Vodacom side-steps own 4G rules, CEO explains

I think Vodacom needs to start looking for a new CEO. This one has a serious case of foot in mouth...

Its really sad to see the way the big operators are going now days. Either saying and doing stupid things or not doing and saying anything at all. I don't know what is worse. Think I'm going to buy myself a cheap phone for my contract sim and then get a prepaid sim to use for data and other things from cell c or 8ta. i cant support a network that does not care about the people who are making them rich.

Whenever Scameel opens his mouth he puts his feet in it...

The thanks goes to #$% apple and their "4G" tablet.

Once a company with such a large brand starts to claim that 4G actually exists, who can stop it?

Quite pathetic of vodascum to also now jump on the 4G bandwagon after they were so vocal about stopping Cell C from using the term.

Petty, and it does nothing to raise my opinion of either company

Exactly why I won't support these Vodacom monkeys. They're a law unto themselves!

Can the previous ruling against CellC by the ASA be used to stop Vodacom to use the term 4G. The technology has not not changed since that ruling so they should be prevented from using the term.

Ag nee. The CEO is worse than a call center operator. He doesn't make sense at all. Something tells me this guy is gonna cost Vodascum a lot of money.

Vodacom couldn't have chosen a bigger idiot to make their CEO. With each new article something even more idiotic somehow makes its way out of his mouth.

Both of these operators are wrong. Cell C rolled out 3.75G... and LTE is 3.9G

So VC was right to argue the point that Cell C did not run a "4G" network.

Hey Scameel, please go back to where you came from and spread your bull elsewhere!
We've had enough of the Vodascum nonsense! Enough!

Yes, Vodascum was technically right BUT they now want to call LTE 4G and technically it is wrong. :(
But now that everyone jumped on the 4G wagon they changed their mind in what was wrong then to what may be right now.

...they are still more correct than Cell C....LTE is a completely different technology and as far as I know is very similar to LTE-A. Cell C's "4Gs" network is based on a technology that, technically speaking, is completely different to LTE-A

Im not saying one is right, but Scameel does make a good point in differentiating WDCMA(what HSPA+ is based on) and LTE

maybe we should call LTE "4G" and LTE-A "4G+"

The Australian ASA stopped that dead in its tracks. Apple now calls it the iPad + Cellular, and there's no mention of 4G with the iPhone 5.
