Vodacom speed test! check upload speed.

3g does vodacom throttle people with no bundles?
i tried vodacom & Ookla last nyt & all i get is 394 down (max) & 254 up (max).

Well, we do try and throttle everyone who don't want to buy a contract, but in your case we don't even know where you live to send the boys over. ;)

But on the network itself, all traffic are treated equal, irrespective of contract type, bundle size, protocol, etc.

What you saw was most likely congestion, either 'permanent' (awaiting more backhaul) or 'temporary' (localised overload).

Maybe run another few tests over a few hours. What modem are you using?

Works fine for me

IE
Download Speed: 1701 kbps (212.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 312 kbps (39 KB/sec transfer rate)

Fire fox
Download Speed: 2252 kbps (281.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 308 kbps (38.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

was on the E220, because my borrowed E272 wouldn't work (VMC Lite of course - i couldn't flash a modem that belongs to a tech challenged person).
i tried my luck because MDMA showed a profile of 1800/1074 (give or take) & i wanted to see if it's worth going to 3.6.

My E172 has VMC but I still use the Huawei dashboard that was installed from the E220. When the pop up for VMC comes up I just close it and run the Huawei dashboard from the desktop.

Not too shabby!

Especially if you consider it all comes out of a little device half the size of a box of matches. :)

That 1800/1074 looks a bit weird.

Can you reproduce it and grab a screen shot?

The E272 supports RX diversity while the E220 don't. So in some cases (probably low signal levels), the E272 could outperform the E220.
While I have no idea what you talking about I would agree with you!!!:D I down loaded a 95mb file in 5 min 26 sec using Orbit, speeds fluctuated between 60kBps (min) to 418kBps (max). The average speed must have been around 300kBps which is bloody fantastic considering the hardware...

great phones can upload faster than our countries adsl now.. sigh
