Is anyone at Vodacom responsible for actually ensuring quality of service? Or are they too busy taking our money to care? I have been frustrated to the point of contemplating assault. Please do not tell me to 'report the problem', as I have tried to do so many times and the problem NEVER gets solved and it is IMPOSSIBLE to escalate the issue - you simply get told to go to Vodaworld when you want to speak to management. When asking WHO to talk to, you simply get told to go to the customer services counter!!
Excuses for poor connectivity and dropped calls are simply explained away as ageing handsets, growing vegetation etc. I used to have excellent reception but now it barely exists. I am 'living on (the) EDGE' permanently. Incidentally this is not just at home, but seems to be the rule in the West Rand/ Randburg area.
I ONCE managed to have the problem reported by a helpful store assistant at the Westgate retail outlet, with SMS confirmation of technicians attending to the problem nogal. For about 3 weeks I got regular SMS messages reassuring of their efforts of investigating the problem, until VOILA! an e-mail from Vodacom proudly saying my issue has now been resolved. Believe me, no change in poor performance was evident during or after this excercise
Any lawyers with balls out there? I think the public should sue Vodacom. I have been a contract customer of Vodacom since 1994 (TWENTY YEARS!) and spend between R2000 and R 8000 per month on 'services' with Vodacom alone. Why can one not get a response from any Vodacom executive? I work from home and need my mobile connectivity as Telkom will not even consider replacing cables in my area anymore. I have come to rely on Telkom Mobile for my data needs compliments of a Poynting XPOL antenna and MTN for my mobile needs. At least those two services are consistent.
I challenge any Vodacom executive to react to my allegations. I am prepared to bet any comers nothing will happen because they do not take responsibility.
FOOTNOTE: Whilst writing this rant, my connection has dropped three times. when connected it swung between EDGE and HSPA like e rusty pendulum. A quick SPEEDTEST showed download of 0.78 Mbps, upload of 0.14 Mbps and ping time of 72ms. Also, to add insult to injury, a broadband survey from Vodacom popped up. It asked no pertinent questions and would not allow me to add 'pathetic' in the download speed box ;-( Interestingly, my desktop PC was running on MTN WCDMA with no hiccups. Maybe that's my answer? Just close my accounts with the big losers?
