Vodacom will be in Top 40 when it lists

15% @ R22.5BN = Total Value @ R150BN
525 million shares
+/- R286 / share

Total Value = R80BN
+/- R152 / share.

Total Value = R70BN
+/- R133 / share.

My guess is that the price should shot up as soon as the shares are listed because of the keen interest, and the price should normalise after a month or two.

Anyone can, but ATM the only way is to buy Telkom shares. Closes today. When Vodacom lists on Monday 18 May, for each Telkom share you own, you receive 1 Vodacom share and a R19 special dividend.

This Moggie tip if it's correct could rake in a massive amount of rands if Moggie can provide a reliable source ;) Think about it. For every telkom share you buy you get 1 Vodacom share for free which will not start on the JSE for less than R 100. And also get a R 19.00 special dividend.

So in essence even if you don't make a cent on the telkom share, you get R 119 at least for FREE  I hope this is true :D

The combination of the Telkom share price, Vodacom share price and the R19 dividend per Telkom share means that you will at least make your money back. Thereafter you are in for the longhaul wait. Telkom price must drop, but will recover (not to its current price) depending on its future plans - remember it now owns MultiLinks in Nigeria and that is included in it current and future share price. Vodacom price will go up especially now that they will not be restricted in their Africa expansion plans.

Damn.. If I'd known about this I might have dropped 50k on Telscum shares recently.......

Oh well... life goes on.

There are +/- 520 million Telkom shares in issue, and each Telkom share holder gets 1 Vodacom share, but Telkom can only distribute the 35% it is left with after the sale.
So the 525 million Vodacom shares "in issue" represents only the 35% of Vodacom which Telkom are distributing to their shareholders. The remaining 65% will be held by Vodafone. There are going to be approximately 1,5 billion shares in Vodacom in total according to a JSE SENS announcement by Telkom last month.

So, if total Vodacom Value = R80BN
Then 80BN/1.5 = R53 / share

I wonder what the implications will be for MTN share price ... up or down ...
