Y4L 60% Voda, 55% Other - Cell Broadcast

Did anyone get the "Y4L 60% Voda, 55% Other" message on their Vodacom phone as a Cell Broadcast/Information?

Only info I can find is some Youth For Life HIV programme. Anyone else know something?

Yep, i also got this. Although i'm with virgin, my reception is via vodacom.

It seems Vodacom has launched a package to rival MTN's MTN Zone package whereby your tariffs increase and decrease based on the current demand being placed on your nearest cell tower...

"With Yebo4Less you don’t have to wait forever to make that call. Vodacom now offers all Vodacom Prepaid customers a chance to talk whenever the moment strikes, by offering you massive call discounts, depending on the time of day and your location.

With Yebo4Less, you can now get discounts of up to 99% off calls to other Vodacom numbers (on-net calls) and discounts of up to 65% off calls to other networks (off-net calls)."

Whether they copy them or not isnt important, what is important is that if you compare product against product vc usually come out tops. What happened to 7.2mbps? An epic fail cause mtn wasnt ready. As for this new Yebo4less I think it is quite cool but do they charge you per minute or per second?

Its gotta do with the new yebo4less tariff plan...
Saw it in the papers

We c a lot of copying from VCom. They copied MTN Business, MTN 3.6, now MTN Zone cloned.

We might not always be 'first to market' (although I'm sure VC's marketing devision will disagree), or at least 'first-to-announce', but when we launch something, you can normally go out and get it...;)

3.6, for example Mr. Skeptik? Not seen any 3.6 speeds being posted in the MTN thread, let alone 7.2....

Something I've noticed over the years is that VC is much more conservative than MTN in 'launching' new products. Again 3.6 is a case in point. VC had 3.6 on EVERY tower country-wide before announcing the service. MTN 'launched' and for weeks no-one could find a single tower.

Same with 7.2. We've had it for a while (again country-wide), but won't make it available till such time as we believe the backhaul can give at least some decent level of service.

But at the end of the day it's just two different marketing strategies. No much use in boasting 'we were the first' if subscribers quickly realise it means nothing in the real world and vote with their feet.

Subscribers are not interested in p!ssing competitions, rather in product and service. So we try and focus on actually doing stuff, like building towers, rather than talking about it. ;)

Why cares if VC is copying MTN? Either way subscribers save. Good grief you'd swear some people are walking advertisements.

Anyone knows how this cell info supposed to work? I have it switched on now on my phone but I don't see anything different on my phone. I got a PPC.
