I am having a pretty irritating problem with Vodacom's data bundle usage notification service. I am in the habit of purchasing a small data bundle, about 20mb at the beginning of each month, this is used for on device browsing on my HTC. The bundle is usually enough, however this month due to unforeseen circumstances I have used up most of it. I usually get an sms stating that I have x amount left and that once the x mb are used up the costs will be deducted from my call account, (btw this is a top up contract). Yesterday I get an sms stating That I have 4000KB left etc. subsequent to that +/- 30secs later I receive an sms saying cost are now being deducted from my call account, since then I have been receiving two sms's an hour, one saying I have "4000KB left" and the other, a short while later saying that costs are being deduced from my call account. This is really annoying . Does anyone know what is going on.

I had the same problem, it is everytime you connect or disconnect from a data connection that you will get them, you need to call Vodacom and get them to sort it out for you.

Yep it also happens to me every third or so time my bundles expires. I'm also on family top up and regularly buy data bundles of 150meg. I also get these messages repeatedly saying first 4 meg left and then costs are now being deducted from my account. It lasts for 2 hours or so in which time i normally get at least 20 of both. Normally if i switch of my phone and remove the sim it stops upon restart.

I wanted to say lets report this, but then again, nothing will happen.
You have to physically defecate someone's pillows before they react and give you support, or even follow up.

Switching of is fixing the problem with a problem. Reporting it would at least get vodacom thinking about fixing it.

I have encountered the same problem when using data on my topup contract.

I think that it has something to do with the fact the on the prepaid and hybrid (topup) packages - extra airtime is deducted from your account at the beginning of your session and then refunded if you do not use all the airtime. This means that you are continuously triggering the end of cap sms when you dial and then getting the cap refunded at the end of your session.

v3g can probably confirm/deny my guess and forward the details of the problem to the dev guys to look into :D

Well at least you guys are getting the sms. I recently got a blackberry and was using the youtube application. I still had about 10mb from a bundle. I didn't know that youtube wasn't covered by bis. When I checked my data bundle balance I noticed that I had no data left and I have no idea how much additional air time I had used. Oh I didn't receive any sms.

I also get the hundred sms's an hour thing when i buy 5mb data bundles for mxit and opera mini. . .
