Voicy does Norway

Lol you bastards.

Yeah that's me...I'm wearing full snowboarding pants & longsleeve thermals which are baggy...but I'm still fat regardless. Guess I'm on polarbear menu after all.

Can we have one where you dont look like a Lego character when zooming in on you? :D

Oh I made provision for the bulky clothes :p

This thread is awesome, thank you Voicy

I think I'll love it there except I get brain freeze when it gets too cold :( But for free coffee I might just put up with it :D

You work with engines... I work with engines... Can you see where this is going :p
I'm learning German though as I suspect that is where I'll end up

I keep getting told "but you never see the sun, how can you leave SA blah blah" - in your opinion how bad is the lack of sun in summer?

Awesome thread, Voicy.

I am both extremely jealous and pleased for you. If it weren't for my missus who abhors the cold and dark, this would be top on list of places to live. The pictures and vistas are pure

I'm getting sick of the sun. It's up ALL the time in summer...as in seriously, go outside at "midnight" and you'll see direct sunlight. It hasn't been dark since May.

In December it's the complete opposite again, you get perhaps 2hrs of dusk before it goes dark again. By 2pm it's dark outside. If it's snowing there's this orange haze all over so it's quite light regardless, but if it's open skies then you can already see the aurora borealis at 5pm. People also drink Omega 3 oil or something to help them with vitamin D deficiency (easy now, no jokes about needing the "D".)

The constant darkness confuses my bodyclock though. If I don't set my alarm to go to work I sleep whenever I'm tired...be it from 9am to 3pm or from 2pm to 9pm. Weekends are a mess. It's dark all the time so you have no real reference.

Today is sunny and 12DegC outside. I sat in the sun during lunch but actually got too hot and went inside again. The only time I hate the weather is if it's windy. Then its miserable anywhere.

Thanks Voicy, that answers a lot :) Obviously it'll be way different in Germany but the annual averages for sun hours, rain etc seems to be similar so I think it is a reasonable comparison for me

I think that I have officially classified Norway as an amazing hokiday destination but a place that will drive me to an early grave if I had to live there for any length of time.

Tried to get the missus to be to go to Norway on honeymoon. Eventually lost, but I got a few good points in such that it is our next holiday destination :)

i love this thread, it makes me happy and shows me how life CAN be

and he mentioned beautiful girls, I like that part too

"One does not simply read Road Signs into Mordor." ... tunnels. Tunnels EVERYWHERE. Longest one I've been in is 12km long and the longest in the country is around 18km I think. The one in Stavanger even goes 264m under the sea between 2 islands.

Actually no, the WORLDS longest road tunnel is in Norway at 24.5Km.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lærdal_Tunnel

I will be driving through it on my way to Bergen in September.
