Voicy does Norway

Snow is awesome and all, but during winter my daily 20min ritual consists of this nonsense.

Bobsled avenue had about 4m of snow the time I was driving through. In winter a lot of the major roads are just closed off entirely, other times you drive in convoys behind a snowplow.

Okes ice fishing on the lake behind my town. The first step in ice fishing is always "a little boring".

To get anywhere you have to either take a tunnel or a ferry. These car ferries are enormous (there is another deck below the one seen here to load cars. It can take well over 100 cars at a time)

Ockie, this is our main shopping street. No car guards. You even pump your own petrol.

That looks absolutely awesome. Anyone want to start a MyBB pool on when Voicy gets nommed by a polar bear?

I've gone arctic surfing / UW pic taking in Lofoten a few times now.

The water temp was 3. Outside was -5 and snowing. Actually wasn't so bad, but changing out of a wetsuit in the snow and wind was the coldest I've EVER been.

One of the most random things ever happened the first time I went to this surf spot. I ran into another South African...from my home town. He comes to Norway every year to coach surfing.

This one was taken in December during midday.

Norwegians are crazy over skiing...and hiking...and more often than not they combine the two. This hill is about a 10min walk from my front door, so I packed my snowboard and my milo and went up. It was flippen hard trying to hike in snow. Sweating more than Ockie during a dance scene in Magic Mike. Absolutely exhausting activity, but the ride back down makes it all worth it. The guy I hiked up with knows this area well and rests for 2mins every hour or so because of a weak knee from an "accident" a few years back so his knee gets a little tired. Turns out that accident was him surviving a god damned avalanche.

Lol you bastards.

Yeah that's me...I'm wearing full snowboarding pants & longsleeve thermals which are baggy...but I'm still fat regardless. Guess I'm on polarbear menu after all.
