Vox Telecom Fatpipe

Hey Guys. I just want to try and clear up a bit of confusion and have some other queries. I signed up for the 300gb fat pipe promo at the end of August (the one that was 300gb for the price of 150gb) am I correct in assuming that this has now been bumped up to 400gb?

In addition, I've noticed my Netflix streaming rarely makes it passed 480p on a 10mb/s line, where when I was on another ISP, I was able to get full 1080p all the time. Is this the norm for Vox?

Ssince switching over to Vox, my routher is having a hard time keeping a stable wifi connection. All other devices connected to my router via a cable all work okay, but if it's connected to Wifi, my connection drops (on all my wifi connected devices) every now and again. The wifi drops are random, and there is nothing to indicate there is something wrong with either my router or connection.

Also, has anyone had any issues connecting to PSN using a PS4 with VOX? The day I made the switch, I was unable to connect to PSN, and had to change MTU settings in my router in order for my PS4 to connect to PSN...

All very strange stuff imo. I'm loving Vox and the connection speed/stability, but these few small issues are bugging me...

I don't have issues with Vox and Psn. Changed to Googles dns servers a few months ago

Can someone official confirm or deny that the 1TB promo account gets the free midnight data?

Send me your DSL username, I'll confirm for you.

EDIT: Excluded from upgrade.

Regards,
Chris

Hi. In the android app there is an option to adjust cap. Can anyone explain how that works?

Another question - if I should decide that I would like to upgrade from a 75gb cap to 300gb cap, I would I go about doing that?

after midnight data taken off my cap from last night, so i changed my midnight account from my telkom acc to vox fatpipe 300 and my downloads last night from midnight to 6am are showing against my normal usage

anyone else checked this out or experienced this?

They have confirmed that the data is being displayed correctly on the back end, the customer zone needs to be updated for us to also see the usage displayed correctly, I was told this will be done mid to end of this month.

Pease can someone assist me.
I have signed up for a75gb fatpipe account to try out. I am happy with the performance so far.
I didn't expect too much in the evenings though because there is a fault at my exchange which Telkom is aware of.

I am having the following issue:
in the evenings my speeds slow down quite drasticallcy yet p2p, YT downloads (use a downloader) and streaming from a site I fequent runs at full speed.
However YT streaming, google play store updates, windows updates, ps4 updates etc run quite slowly.
During the day it runs great - like in the best I have ever had.
I know this is all due to my exchange but I am just battling to understand how some protocols run full speed but others don't.
Any advice/insight will be highly appreciated.

Dear Customer

PLEASE NOTE that the price of your 300GB Fat Pipe package will stay at R485 p/m

You will also enjoy the benefits of additional data (400GB per month) + FREE data between midnight and 6.00 a.m.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the misleading mail that you received from us earlier.

Regards,
The Vox Telecom Team

wow cool - thank you for the feedback. i have just logged a call with Vox for them to clarify... but i am feeling a little happier that i didnt tick the wrong box!

Is there a way to disable the OTP option when logging in? If not, maybe the actual OTP can be changed to a 3/4 digit number only? While it's secure, I find the current OTP very annoying.

You're describing shaping, but anyway.

What I described above also occurs on the vox account. The results I posted was after testing the vox account yesterday during the day and last night.
I am by no means saying it is the vox account - I have a similar issue at night on my AH account.
Hence why I said it is due to my exchange.
I just thought an exchange fault would cause havoc with all protocols - thus my confusion.
EDIT: AH keeps saying it is my exchange that is causing all the issues. I am just looking for confirmation or an idea if something else could also be at play here.

I have exactly the same issue. Daytime - incredible. Then it gets progressively worse during the evening, to the point where loading a 300KB image from imgur takes up to 10 seconds around 7pm. Not even worth trying to load up a Youtube video. Doesn't seem to be an exchange issue on my side though, as traceroutes don't seem to indicate any increased latency at the first hop out.

Learned to live with it though, as using enough connections on downloads still gives me line speed - and during the daytime the bandwidth is amazing, and Vox cannot be beat for value for money on capped accounts and/or bolt-on at the moment.

Sounds like congestion on telkoms side.

So pretty much nothing to be done either way :)

You could contact Telkom. I lived in an area that was congested and after numerous fault logging and complaints, 6 months later they upgraded the bandwidth on the dslam I connected to. Congestion was history :) but it will take more than just reporting your line is slow. It's a mission :(

Having dealt with Telkom's call center and turn-around times in the past, I honestly don't have the patience to pursue this. Spending over an hour on hold only to speak to someone who doesn't have a clue what you're talking about and can only respond with what's written down on their checklist is not my idea of a good time. You can also almost hear the gear change in their tone when they find out you're (a) not using Telkom Internet and (b) not using a Telkom-sold modem. The attitude changes to "Ah, not our problem, try rebooting". No thanks.

Tried to sign up yesterday. Was sent the application by someone from Vox. Replied and asked him if it was possible for me to pay via EFT. His response....was not a yes or no answer. His response was not even that he would find out and get back to me. His response was that I contact the accounts department.

Did this and haven't heard a thing since. Will rather stick with the hopeless incompetents at TI. They are no better, but rather the devil you know and all that.
