Vox Telecom Fatpipe

I must say that last night's increased latency was the first issue I've had in a long time with my account and it was only a minor annoyance. Otherwise working as advertised.

It's weird for me reading that there are guys with issues on VOX (specifically in Cape area)...as I'm in the Northern Suburbs and haven't had a single issue with them yet.

Hope you guys get sorted out soonest!!

Going to switch back to Google DNS tonight and see if that helps.

Noticing slow downs during the off-peak period. Logs show I don't exeed 60Mbs at all, and average about 40Mbs.

@cvanwie Can you keep us updated on what is the situation, with regards to the after 4pm slowdown / shutdown

Thx

Absolutely.

I've been in touch with Telkom in the last 2 days, and they will be looking at the latency issue after 6pm tonight (hopefully).

Unless cvanwie is lying (and there's no reason to believe he is), capacity is not the issue...

Consider this:

* Some customers in Cape Town don't have any issues at night and some do, if it was everyone, I would second guess the graphs about capacity being configured correctly. We have ensured that Telkom has the rate limits set correctly and we've ensured that those rate limits from Telkom equate to the rate limits that we have on our monitoring system is identical.

Hopefully I hear back from Telkom tonight about their test results.

Here is a prime example!

Northern Suburbs uses the same IPC channel that Cape Town central and surrounding areas all use.

SlowHands, please do me a favor and message me your dsl username or telephone number, I'd like to confirm that you are NOT on an ISAM (VDSL ready) exchange.

Have speed problems in the evenings, am on VDSL.

@cvanwie - would the problems you've identified that Telkom may some day by some miracle get around to fixing also account for slow speeds in CPT, or just latency? Is one a symptom of the other?

I believe they are related. Once this latency issue is resolved, I'm sure your speeds will be back in place. We believe Telkom is reaching congestion at the exchange before they hand off to us.

Couldn't stream **** yesterday but today it's a much different story:
Youtube streaming everything in 1080p with a run-away buffer.

Just received word that the testing will happen tonight.

I'll update once I get feedback.

Fingers crossed.

"We've looked at the problem. Are you using a Telkom-approved modem?"
"Uhh, we're an ISP.."
"So no?"

Hoping a rep can help. Just signed up yesterday but only getting half my line speed on speed test. Was hoping someone could take a look for me just to make sure everything is as it should be.

Anyone else notice that usage between 12-6am is being deducted from their allocation? :wtf:

It has been mentioned by Chris that it's a display problem but their back-end is aware of the correct figures. By month-end it should be resolved and the missing data will be back.
