Vox Telecom Fatpipe

Also in the Cape area and had issues with streaming YouTube last night.

Yeah, the connection early in the evening is terrible once again to local Dota 2 servers. 800ms ping again. Then once again, after DCing due to unplayability, loaded up mweb and I was sailing at 33ms.

later on the speeds are much better, but still there is something wrong with Vox working on dota servers between 9-11.

Does anyone know what the ip's is of these local dota servers that is experiencing the slow speeds?

Same here, on that FatPipe 100, FTP speeds last night were shocking...getting 200KB/s on my 20Mb line. But do a speed test and get 2100Kb/s ....Unshaped data my A$S

Switched over to my Axxess "unshaped" account 200gig and it was even worse 150KB/s and once again speedtest shows line speed.

Multiple FTP sites tested : |

My bandwidth works perfectly. So I would assume the problem is on your side. I get full line speed all the time.

Did you happen to use FTP last night or any other protocol other than HTTP ?

I have no QoS enabled on any of my routers so its impossible that different protocols should be handled differently. I tested from 2 PC/s multiple FTP sites...only FTP gave issues.

Just a quick Q: does Vox's 100gig special end at the end of this month? Am I reading right:

Out of bundle rates charged at R10/GB

So do you not get "capped" or do they instantly move you to top up?

Special ends for signing up at the end of this month. But it lasts for 12 months.

Where did this 12 month limit come from? It says its valid for the duration of the su bscription.

The T&C's for the promotion state the offer is valid for the duration of the subscription, but that Vox reserve the right to review the offer after 12 months.

Anyone here care to comment on Vox's uncapped accounts? Are they any good? Looking at getting a 4mb account.

From what I've heard they simply reselling IS's uncapped products... So pretty average...

But why would you want uncapped when there is so much capped goodness available through Vox?

How many gigs you use per month roughly? And at what times of the day are you mostly using it?

Probably around 150GB.

I'm at work 8am - 5pm weekdays so main usage is 5:30pm - bed time plus weekends.

Home uncapped are just resold IS accounts. Nothing special. They have the standard rating system and do throttle these accounts. Bad thing is you cannot see the level on the online portal so you won't now when you are approaching a level that you are going to be shaped. Don't expect fat pipe performance from home capped. I have no experience with business uncapped.

Only reason I mentioned uncapped is because that's what I'm currently on with Telkom. I could get away with a fat pipe account.

I'll wait and see if any new specials pop up from their side on the fat pipe accounts.

Then 2 * 100 GB fatpipe accounts would be the best value for money as you will get a better experience with fatpipe at a cheaper price than 4mbps uncapped. As the unused data rolls over, you will then build up a nice reserve of data if you have a month where you might use well in excess of your usual 150 GB.
