Vox Telecom Fatpipe

Thanks for the Android app!

The only slightly strange thing I've noticed is that after logging in (for the first time), a second app shortcut gets created. This happened on two devices.

I use the following with no particular issues (although streaming has been slower for the past month, don't know if its the DNS, VOX's network, or Telkom bottlenecking) -
196.41.6.110 (ns1.datapro.co.za)
196.41.30.46 (ns2.datapro.co.za)
Using these servers, I was not affected when everyone else was complaining about DNS problems with the auto-assigned servers

I did this, the weird thing was that none of our wifi devices could access any sites, but the pc hardwired to the router worked fine. When I put DNS back to Auto everything worked fine again!

The issues that we found, which we are now investigating with Telkom, are mostly on the outskirts of Cape Town as opposed to in the center of Cape Town.

The latency through the traceroutes start at Telkom infrastructure, then off to ours and the latency continues obviously. For those technical, the upload vlan from exchange to Telkom is where we've seen some congestion.

This is above the initial issues that we resolved on the 9th @ 2am, and then additional changes on the routers which should make things better going forward as well.

Seems I am having these issues again Have your investigations been concluded or still ongoing?

Hulu is buffering continuously on my Fat pipe account.
I'm in JHB.

Heard good things about Vox and managed to get a 300gig Fat Pipe account just before they closed the promotion. Since I got the account just before the end of last month, I have noticed erratic speeds across the board but usually in the evening it becomes almost usable.

Here are 3 speedtests to different servers in Cape Town:

Note: I am on the False Bay exchange in Cape Town, running 40meg VDSL and my line is syncing flawlessly.

The moment I use another ISP account (hosted by IS), I get full speed:

Hopefully that is enough info to be investigated properly.

Youtube getting stuck at 480p on a 20mbps vdsl line

Looking forward to this and latency issues being resolved... (last test results sent to support yesterday).

Will give this a few more days before I run back to mweb.

I am also having streaming issues tonight. Normal HTTP downloads are looking good, so is P2P. I am on the Fatpipe capped special they were running. Been excellent until now. Hopefully it can get sorted soon. Youtube buffering at 480p on 10mb line.

Thanks

Ugghh. Also having extremely poor youtube streaming on my 40meg VDSL capped fatpipe account.

The common denominator of all complaints is that VOX slows to a crawl in the evening. Youtube buffering at 480p on 10Mb+ lines, pings going through the roof. Even my gaming suffers badly after 19:00.

Agreed.

And they should do something about it. Where is the VOX rep anyway?
