Vox Telecom Fatpipe

I can reset my own Port etc. Africrap is still managing my account. So yeah. Youtube streaming. But just not at full speed anymore. Seems to drop off every evening.

I am really going to have egg on my face if I am forced to go back to MWEB. This VOX relationship started so well, and I was over the moon, now things are going pear shaped and fast too.

Perfect during the day and slow at night points to IPC capacity problems in my experience with local ISPs.

Same thing on my 300gb fatpipe, it just doesn't perform like I would expect an unshaped account should. I left afrihost for this and it seems it's just the same, which is sad because I now pay more :(

How do I change my 100GB Unshaped to Bolt-on?

Not sure what VOX's policy on account migration is but considering the issues you experiencing perhaps cvanwie could make a plan for you. Usually it would be a months calendar notice and then sign up for bolt-on.

Bear in mind 25gb fatpipe lite + bolt-on is the most viable option. When you start adding peak hour gigs they come at a cost of R10 a gig...

What sort of peak hour usage you currently doing?

So did you call Telkom and ask for that port reset?

I'm next to Northwold in Sundowner, streaming HBO NOW: The Leftovers, full HD no issues on my 6Mbps line. I have no special configuration on my account, I'm on a consumer bolt on account.

EDIT: As I submitted, I've had my stream buffer twice for 10 seconds each time. Wife asked me why it's happening, I said karma.

:D

and this is why streaming as the primary source for movie watching remains a distant pipedream in the AfricanTech household

As much as I wish I could say it will be fixed on X date, I can't yet.

What I will share with you is that because of the information that you guys have provided, has led us to identifying some very interesting problems and routing with our peers.

Until fixed, here's what you can expect:

1) Anything Akamai related may be slow, bad peer-routing on their side, we've escalated.
2) Cape Town, during peak time, there will be some slowness due to what seems to be configuration related with our upstream provider. We are pushing them as hard as we can and they have escalated internally to resolve the obvious config problem.

This is all I can offer for now guys. Since before we started launching this specials, we've always ensured there is enough capacity on our network. The things above are out of our control directly. We are in touch with them and motivating for quick resolution.

That's all for now... I'll update when things get resolved on this side, but I'm certain you'll know before I do.

Regarding "Gaming" -- I hope to have time later today to give this another look; anyone with an Xbox able to help test a bit later today?

-Chris

No Xbox, but I have both PS4 and gaming PC. Would be more than happy to assist with any troubleshooting you may need.

Completely agreed.

We prepared correctly, Telkom on the other hand ... seems like someone didn't type in a rate limit correctly. We are working them to get this corrected.

The problem is Xbox with Party Chat. I need someone who can test this with me. I need about an hour of someones time.

EDIT: Made a change that should make gaming better for you guys... Xbox people - let me know if your party chat is broken via private message as soon as possible.

You would need to call the service center and arrange with them. I believe that you would have to cancel your 100GB and purchase the bolt-on package that you want. I assume that you're talking about the Fatpipe Lite 25GB + Bolt On.
