I also got DNS issue with Afrihost yesterday.
I recently spoke to a Crystalweb Techie and he informs me that only the High level Techs will know of Network issues such as these. Call Centre Agents will never know of them as the info is rarely passed on to themI guess the higher ups think we are all stupid. The last thing they will do is admit their system is flawed >.<
Huh? This is in the Vox thread but your post appears directed at Crystal Web...![]()
maybe i worded it incorrectly. This is exactly what is happening at Vox at the moment. The people at the call center have no idea what they are doing. I find it damned amazing as to how a Crystalweb tech was able to tell me what the issue was and the people at Vox had no clue on their own network.
So look at it like a praise![]()
Oh I see. I do hope you come right here. There is no way for us to diagnose a Vox network fault but I'm sure the guys worked with our connections and data and ruled things out appropriately. Hopefully someone from Vox pops in to address for you...![]()
Guys with DNS issues:
This is what I run on my pfSense box:
127.0.0.1 - for local DNS forwarding
196.22.218.248 - obtained from vox
209.203.10.208 - obtained from vox
8.8.8.8 - google DNS
8.8.4.4 - google DNS
Router tries the top address first, if unable to resolve, tries the next one in the list.
I know my previous router didn't have the option, but some may have the option to add additional DNS servers at the end of their list - this way if Vox's fail, you will auto fallback to google (which is usually slower - see the link below)

Personally, I have run into very few issues with Vox. Last year December I noticed a performance hit (in CPT) but that was resolved with ease.
Why can I hardly ever stream twitch properly using Vox?
Back when I used to have a 2mb connection I could stream on medium with it very occasionally pausing to buffer. That was with a different ISP. Now that I'm on Vox and using a 4mb connection, I experience unreasonable amounts of buffering while still on medium. There are very few evenings when I can watch a stream without it cutting out so much.
Downloads are fine, youtube is fine, latency is generally ok. It's mostly just twitch that doesn't seem to play nicely.
Twitch often sucks, even for people with connections 100x faster than your 4Mbps line.
Download Livestreamer and Livestreamer Twitch GUI, it will make the stream use multiple threads and you will have zero issues.
Thanks man, I'll give that a try.

If tried and had everything Vox Fatpipe is the best and by far constantly the fastest
I'm streaming right now without a issue on the iPad app but for people with slower lines Livestreamer helps just to make sure your line is fully used.I had no issues with Twitch on Afrihost and I don't now with Crystal Web. Having a fast connection definitely helps.
Crystal Web would beg to differ.
