Voxtelecom Fatpipe ADSL

Trying to decide if this is a good idea...

Use TI as primary, with Afrihost as a back-up.
AF with the free 1GB account, and then I just top-up if I need to, if TI has gone roundabout...

I guess at R164/month, it's not a king's ransom to have to pay for a 3rd option...

Anyone tried it for streaming Netflix etc.?

I only tried streaming youtube in core business hours. Watched 1080p HD with zero buffering.

Thanks!

Took the plunge. Figured if it's terrible, can hopefully cancel easily enough in a few months. Not like Afrihost is costing me a fixed amount each month in any event, so R164 for an additional option isn't too bad, I guess.

Will pop something up when I've given it a go...

For me the killer was my online gaming. For the last two months I could not connect to my gaming server in the US during shaping hours, only over weekends on MWEB. With VOX, I have zero gaming issues.

These accounts are awesome. I was streaming today with no issue. you do notice in high demand times some services take a knock for a bit then back to normal.

Let's see how this FatPipe works out. I won't use half of the cap most months but I care for a quality connection on a 10 Meg ADSL line.

How well does this account serve internationally served streaming content?

I have yet to try it but, if Youtube is anything to go by, I'd say you have nothing to worry about.

As for gaming.. I totally forgot to mention this:

With AH, I kept getting strange errors with Steam... it wouldn't be able to login, and would log in and the lose the connection. Did that on all my machines. That problem disappeared the moment I moved to Vox.

I wouldn't know.
Planned on signing up with Vox. Organized a test account. The first night, it would not log on.
Support tells me that it may take between 15 mins and 12 hours.
Ok...so I guess not that night then.
Next night, get sms and email that the account is activated. Log on...will not log in at all. Correct username and pass....no login.
Call support. After a while....maybe 20 mins, they come back and say that there must be a problem with that account. Need to log a ticket.
Ok...so not that night either then. Running out of time to test this thing, as the special ends the 31st.
So tonight....I log in. Yay! It logs in, and I get a green light. Cool..time to test.
First page I load, it goes to their website, and tells me I am capped, no data left. But I haven't even loaded a single page yet!
Call support...umm..err....20 mins later "Yes, we can see you are both capped and that you have 40 Gigs"
Umm...err....yeah. Problem. They need to log a ticket.
Not tonight then.
Maybe I'll get to test it after the special is over and I have no desire to sign up anymore.
We'll see tomorrow. But this is not a good start.

Pathetic.
Just got home, and thought I would try and login now, so that I can run some tests and hopefully sign up tomorrow, on the day the special expires.
Oh well....connects, and then goes straight to the same screen that says data limit exceeded. The same problem that I had yesterday when they said they would open a ticket. And not even going to bother calling support now, since if they fix it tomorrow, I can only test tomorrow night, and then the special is over.
Thanks but no thanks Vox. Almost....

Logged a ticket regarding slow connection max 2mb on 10mb line. Ticket just closed today. Now getting speeds of 1mb. Are you still interested in your clients or should we find another ISP?

Ticket closed without resolving issue: VOX7272494
