Vumatel: Fibre into Sectional Title Complexes

Vumatel approached our complex re fibre they are trenching in the area.

I don't see any problems with the ISP options available (as detailed on their website).

Vumatel have asked:

- to trench fibre into our complex
- they need a min. 30% interest
- we are referred to as "Multi Dwelling Units" or MDU
- there are 2 acceptance agreements they want signed, being "Residents communication acceptance" and their one-pager "Vumatel fibre MDU Terms and Conditions"

On the face of it, I don't see anything in it which is particularly onerous or unreasonable.

My question though to the bigger audience, is there anything that Sectional Title Complexes or Estates should be aware of that might come back to byte in the long run?

Anyone got current experience with Vumatel?

We have Vumatel for home with Cool Ideas as our ISP and I must say it's been the best internet experience I have had in South Africa. Installation was fast and clean.

We are a free standing home. I didn't see anything that concerned me for the installation for individual homes.

They called to book an installation date. Arrived on time. Had a look around, started the install and within 2 hours they were done and we were online.

Cool Ideas has been an amazing ISP. True uncapped, no shaping. Pull multiple Terabytes a month and not had any issues. International speeds are excellent as well.

I live in a ST, and was involved in the whole Vumatel install. Nothing to be concerned with Vumatel. To be honest most of the issues came from tenants and the BC, as depending on the BC and managing agents, some view the install as an improvement thus requiring an 80%+ signoff by owners, even if the install is free.

Vumatel did a fantastic job on the install, and did a great job restoring the grounds to the original condition.

100% Correct, I looked into the install at a MDU down the road and it's pretty straight forward.

Thanks. Now to convince the folk in complex to adopt same. Also from what I have seen, they have been pretty good at tidying up after themselves, which includes the brick work and paving of different driveways.
