Vumatel outage ?

Still up and running ... load shedding at 12-2:30 again tomorrow for Zone 6 ... we shall see.

Just received another SMS from Vumatel saying they aware of a break in the line in our area and Technicians on it.
No Loadshedding though on JHB.

Problem from last night though. Speed tested at about 2mb on a 20mb line.

I received an email from Vumatel yesterday afternoon:

The installation of your fibre at Home has been completed.

Cheers,
The Vumatel Fibre Team

Since my fibre has been installed since November, I'm wondering what they're on about?
No easy way to contact Vuma, either, which is why I'm posting here.

Got one too, and mine was installed 4/5 years ago /shrug

Anyone else in Northern Suburbs down?

Everything seems to work, but just no internet, yet I can ping 1.1.1.1 from my router.

Nevermind. Seems something went wonky on my network. Raspberry Pi might have bit the dust due to power cut :'(

Looks like the issues from Feb 2019 have not yet been sorted out with Vuma.

Been off-line since Saturday, and no communication from either Vumu or @Afrihost

Seems its working fine for me now, after load shedding. Have you tried restarting the CPE?

Could just be my area though. They seem to be trenching in my area again and connecting it to the neighbouring area. Wonder if they want to build up the network resilience.

Worked for about 20 min after last nights LS
This morning nothing. And yes have restarted CPE a few times.

Got up early to watch the Aussie GP

No problems here either, in Durbanville Vumatel. I am on the POP in Goedemoed. It does have a rather large alternative power supply, which seems to be doing its work nicely.
CPE, routers and other electronics all on UPS, so technically I am never down and therefore don't need IP assigned to me when everyone else is coming back online.

anyone else experiencing slow / no internet browsing and email on Vumatel / Cool ideas in the Cape Town / Welgelegen 1 area ?

I see 1 or 2 pink Vuma bakkies at least 2 to 3 times a week at their Panorama Primary School site, but no improvement.

Is Vuma prioritising Streaming to the detriment of normal internet browsing and emails ?

Same in Johannesburg. Cool Ideas just tweeted problems with latency on overseas sites as the cause.

I connected my Router and my Vumatel Raycore CPE to my inverter for the firs time today...and am experiencing a weird issue.

On the inverter, my CPE's LAN does not work....everything else works, except for the all important connection between the CPE and my Router.

All the other LAN ports on my router works, so the issue is on the CPE side.

WTF??

Do you have another 12V PSU lying around - try replace the PSU powering the Vuma CPE (these can be temperamental at times.
