Vumatel outage ?

So honestly what are we meant to do? Already found out that I can't switch over to Octotel, because Vumatel were the only ones allowed to trench into our complex. So either ditch the entire thing and hope LTE works, or wait until they solve it? CAN they even solve it? I'm not one for postponing the inevitable...so if this thing seriously can't be resolved I'd like to know.

Octotel is worse, I suggest you avoid them. If you check out some other threads, they're basically waiting for a buyout. If you have no technical issue, they'll be fine, but network faults they don't really care.

I expect Vumatel will be doing something to sort it out quite soon, as it's quite a reputational damage as well.

Up at 6pm after loadshedding ended at 2:30pm

Internet died again at 7:10pm

They getting better at it ... was 10m longer than this morning

Connection is still dying randomly long after loadshedding. Power has been on for 5h and then the connection dies.

I've received messages from Vumatel regarding the 2h reconnection time and changes made to the network today, but nothing about this.

My internet also died at 19:10 now...not even had any loadshedding.
No blue light flashing and internet light on router is green....but no internet.
Fuk me sideways....

At this stage i would take Telkom over Zumatel.

Clearly their network people are idiots ... imagine if they worked at Vodacom or MTN our cellfones would only work for 1 hour per day.

Well, i have no cell reception (with vodacom) during load shedding in durbanville. Not on any of the 2 tablets or 2 phones. So vodacom not that great either.

It took two hours after loadshedding ended to get back online , and yes less than 3 hours with internet again after being connected it just died again. Funny thing is the router showed/ shows green but no internet.

I suspect as long as there will be loadshedding it will be a hit and miss situation - question is for how long will one tolerate this before moving on.

Edit :
Just checked - basically 20 minutes later and it is back on - Yay...

What area?
They are working on the network this evening based on an email and sms I got from them earlier today. I saw a few Vumatel staff at the POP near me on my way back from work. That was at 6:45. Maybe they switched it off early

Same here, Brackenfell... Trying to access my router the thing is crawling, cant even get to logs to see whats up.

Pietie rebooted the Vuma router .... it is working again ... for now :).
Let me queue my downloads for the next 70 minutes of uptime.

At this exact time, my internet came up after being off since 14:30 (Stellenberg). Looks like it's internet shedding, everyone gets a turn to be off.

Yet another reason to loath that place as if MTBS is not reason enough ;).

Well my connection came up almost immediately after the power was back so I guess whatever they did this afternoon is working

Around 6pm I gave WebAfrica a call to find out if they had any update from Vumatel whatsoever. The support guy told me he would look into it, put me on hold and came back a while later and asked me to reset my router because he did something (who knows what) - I wasnt at home at the time so couldnt reset, but ironically my wife told me a few minutes after that everything came back on, and we've been on eversince. Hopefully it wasn't a fluke...but we'll see tomorrow.

FYI Im in Durbanville so we didnt have any shedding this evening.
