VW Golf 7

Amazing car! My SO cousin has just gotten one. Can't wait to take it for a test drive.

I think I will keep up with my tradition of getting the odd number GTi models.
Lmao, so for somebody who professes to know a lot about cars and performance, that means you would have owned the crap Mk III GTi.

I have to hand it to VAG designers, they sure know how to consistently churn out the dullest cars ever...

and you consistently churn out the exact same dull, boring comments about vag, year in and year out.

Lol I did own one, was a hand me down, I was 18 and it was an awesome car, no VR6 but I loved it! In hindsight yes it's the worst of the bunch. Still an overall good car and perfect for an 18 year old. I had the executive with the 6 spoke wheels, leather and sun roof.
Proud to admit that I had one. The 2.0l 16 valve is still the business in done circles.

Don't even bother feeding the troll.

He's best ignored.

"Golf7′s ‘boring’ design explained" - http://www.topgear.co.za/news/golf7s-boring-design-explained

"The arguably expensive prices and the Volkswagen/Audi group's often repetitive designs (by their own admission) are elephants in the room - http://www.wheels24.co.za/NewModels/VW-Golf-7-is-launched-in-SA-20130203

What about them ? Are those publications also trolls?

From the article:
When we saw the cars parked outside the morning after Mindt’s presentation, it all started making sense. Their metallic surfaces resplendent in glorious Eastern Cape sunshine, the interplay of shadow and highlighted areas were remarkable, just as Mindt had promised it would be during his presentation the previous evening, thanks to the precise metal pinch line VW’s engineers have managed to craft into Golf7’s surfacing, each line featuring its own shadow and highlight area.

Critics, many who have not seen the car in natural light, or on the move, say it’s too boring, generic, Polo-looking. After seeing, driving and having Mindt explain it to me, I think it’s a strikingly simple design, exuding engineering integrity and devoid of aesthetically questionable exterior surface accoutrements.

From the article:
As for the customer, I think VW has created yet another special product and that those who buy one will be smitten

And still it manages a score of 4.7/5 in the very same review... pretty damn impressive I'd say. 'Sides, I'd much rather have a 'little bit boring inside and out' Golf than an undesirable Astra with a drab interior and plummeting resale...

Nah, they're just trying to be all controversial-like in the pursuit of readership figures. You, on the other hand... ;)

Predictable looks, but there are some very clear details present which is already seen in the current range of Polo/Jetta/Passat models. If I am completely unbiased I'd have to say they did a good job here, the car styling has all their new VW styling elements present without going too far and being too bold. In other words it is typical VW modus operandi. However my guess is that under the metal skin is where the most changes will take place, and they will yet again set the benchmark for this segment.

So business as usual then ;)
...said the same thing long time ago.

Still does not make the Golf 7 less dull.

'k, so we've established that you were just trolling then. Not that that'd surprise any of us, but it is good to see that you recognise the Golf as "the benchmark for this segment".

Yes, it is, and I am quite happy about it. If you look at how good the new Astra is (even Clarkson likes it) then it would be foolish to think it came out that good just because some GM engineers were bored. Its about competition.

I have to say, as VAG fan, owned golfs and currently an Audi, it doesn't rock my socks. BUT I always find photos to be disappointing. In the flesh it may be a different scenario :)
