VW Golf 7

Problem with the golf is that its sooo boring. Every one has one. What are you saying about your self if you buy one? "Im just going to follow the heard and do what every one else does, then hopefully Ill fit in better." For that reason alone I wouldn't ever get it.

Do you really believe that the car you drive defines you as a person? If that's the case then it's YOU following the herd and whatever the marketing machine tells you.

I will admit that their marketing campaign is a bit silly.

Which car would you drive for the rest of your life if you could only pick one? Seriously?

In that case, A Maserati Gran Tourismo GTS please.

Theres definitely some collaboration between the choice the buyer made VS the opinion of the public.

Just got back from the dealership and I must say it looks even better than what it does in the pics. Couldn't take one for a test drive as they've sold all the ones they have available :( But they should be getting more in the week, will go take one out then.

There are probably more gti's on the streets of cape town than corolla's. Then again, maybe I notice them more easily with the music blaring out their windows.

There are more R300k+ hot hatches around than econobox family cars? 'k.

Perhaps you should try a bit less hyperbole in your posts? Not everyone has a Golf, and there certainly aren't more GTIs (no apostrophe, ;) ) in Cape Town than what there are Corollas. You're of course absolutely entitled to not like the Golf, but you should realise that you can only do so on your own subjective grounds.

I just got back from VW Menlyn and I must say I love the Golf 7 even more. It looks good, looks better in metal than on pictures. The interior is wow and all the vehicles on the floor were sold. I was even more impressed by the 2.0 Tdi with 17" wheels and panoramic roof. The seating position and the steering wheel are also some of the big noticable improvements. I also loved the standard touch screen. Great car overall.

Just got back from the Northcliff Auto and WOW. Honestly blown away by the 1.4 TSI model. Looks amazing and great interior. Drive was smooth and feedback from the car was ok (not awesome I'll admit) but for R282k with a couple extra's it's def a much better priced option to the 118i which I also saw and drove today.

PS. Got to test-drive as soon as I got in because I was the only person looking for a manual. Everyone else was waiting for the DSG models. :D

I was at Barons Bellville and the 2.0 TDi is my next car.

It is just a beautiful car.

I agree that 2.0 Tdi is something ese. Did you see how clever did they make the towbar? Just the pull of the knob at the back and it dissapears. That's amazing.

Glad they dropped the wheel design on the concept for the production car. Looks good.

Mhhh I dont like these rims. I still prefer the concept ones. They were slighly different from the GTi 5/6 ones but they were still "Gti" rims if you know what I mean.

Indeed, would have been a great seller. Any specific reason? Quality of our diesel?
