Im also curious as to what they will do.
VW is the only car manufacturer that has yet anounce if they in the red like other companies, if they are, this would cost them a pretty packet to give brand new bigger or better turbos.
I also dont trust VWSA to give us bigger turbos.... I would be surprised if they do to be honest.
If they detune the car I say sue them!! R1 million for every kilowat lost.
I still see people complaining that the car has lost power regardless what VW does, thats just the way it is!
The things they can do imo. Change inlet pipes on the turbo to decrease strain on the turbo no powerloss. Im not sure if a re map can change strain on the turbo if thats their idea. Bigger turbo will be the best option.
If the TDis are running K03 turbos they should get K03s turbos like in the PGti...
One story a guy at vw told me is that the inlet housing (or something like that) was made of a material that overheated, and that overheated the oil....causing a vicious cycle and ends up blowing your turbo, so they will be replacing it with a turbo with a different inlet and different fins...i don't know all the technical terms

(but once again not everyone's turbo will be replaced - wtf????).
here is what i am going to do, i'm taking my car for a dyno before and after it has been at vw, so i'll have it in black and white if there is a powerloss, i am getting all my facts in order. i want a new turbo (maybe my turbo already got hurt, even sligthly, because of vw's problem) that is y i demand a new turbo.
i will seriously take it further if there is any powerloss, i don't want a motorplan, i want the 96kw and 310 nM of torque i paid for, i bought it for a reason otherwise i would have bought a 74kw tdi. and the sad thing is i only have 15000 km on the clock, took my baby in for her first service last monday
i would have thought vw would have put up an announcement on their website, explaining, why they do the recall, what will they do, what effects will it have. i will feel so much better once i have the facts from vwsa and not from service advisors that each have his or her on story, some even doesn't know about this (i am serious, i phoned probably 10 dealers to see if their stories added up, and it did not). come-on vw lift your game, this is why the car market is in its &#*#*# (not aiming it at vw, all car manufacturers are guilty of this one)
Anycase, i hope we get to the bottom of this, and good luck to all and please keep us posted if anyone has taken their car to vw.
think i need a stiff brandy now
