WA download plus performance / feedback

Well, let me give a summary after 30 hours of DL+

I would agree with Detritus that browsing and streaming for me was at my usual speeds of the last few months - the problem was my downloads (the purpose of DL+).

On a 4 meg line I should be able to download 1.5 odd gigs per hour; so 45 gigs for that period, all going well. I scheduled 34 gigs thinking that even with some slower periods it should all be fine. Well, I managed 23.4 gigs according to Grabit, so way short of what I had hoped for, and just over 50% of the potential capacity.

I do think that for a premium ISP, these figures are nothing to be proud off. I do hope WA is not looking at mass uncapped because it would be a disaster to all users based on this trial they had.

WA - I do appreciate the extra time you gave us for DL+, but I really do think things went wrong in a big way and do hope that you will be giving us feedback and also making changes needed so your systems can cope.
 
I had an amazing day with DP yesterday. Added to which my 16GB Witcher 2 download was Freezone'd and came in at a consistent 700kbs. Very very impressed.
 
Speeds have not improved after the disaster of yesterday. C'mon WA!!

Things should be running smoothly :)

Yesterday, we experienced higher than normal traffic for a public holiday, largely as a result of our DP+ promotion. Performance shouldn't have been impacted, but if you're still having issues then please contact support :)

Thanks Jena for the feedback. Maybe it is me, but I am not sure what you are saying re yesterday and poor performance, You saying it should not have been impacted, but as many of us have said, it most certainly was. Will this happen again?
 
so i wad downloading this morning from wa news server at 500kbs and boom 8 am struck 120kbs, using my anytime data as really need this files to be done :(

should be done if keep around 100kps. hope it is done when i get home.

Exactly the same thing for me. It was full speed and then as soon as 8am came, the speed graph dropped to nothing and I've been having connection resets all day.

It feels like my account is so heavily shaped that it is unusable. Hope this doesn't continue for much longer... :(

I am battling to get much above 50 kbps downloading on the news server and very erratic. This is terrible :(

Internet radio is not streaming 100% - not a good start to the weekend

I am having the same issues as well. News server is very slow. I have just PM'd you as well - waJena
 
Ok. 5pm and suddenly I have full speed again....... can you say shaping??
 
I can understand a little shaping during business hours as I do not have an unshaped account but from 400kb/s to 10kb/s is overkill....

That was terrible today - back to normal again.

Maybe the network can not cope with the demands.
