Anyone care to explain how I can average a nice 15-16 KB/sec on downloads but average a spiky 10-24 KB/sec on uploads? Yes, 24KB/sec.

I have a graph of my traffic and uploads spike up and down between 16k and 24k. Mostly over 18K/Sec.

I have the 128Kb/sec limited (I thought..) connection.

Seems like the downstream is well limited but the upstream is not limited as tightly..

Dont say anything, shhhh, dont call tech support

PLEASE

/me gets 24kb/s upload constantly

Never spikes...

I think the uploads are not capped but "contended".

why phone tech support [8D]

now just need to figure a way to get 24 up and 24 down.. strange that upload higher than download. Counter intuitive..

I set mine on 8kb/s shared through all the files, its enough to have a 60kb/s download rate (usually not constant due to me serving to alot of other people etc) Try upping to an FTP server...

I actually got 50kb/s the other night downloading files, so yea, I love bittorrent [8D] anyone have hitman2 on pc? [:p]

and.. Im not sure what to download anymore *sigh*

upload it to an ftp and give me the addy to go download please :)

i actually wanted this for my ps2, but i dont want illegal copies on it and i dont want to buy platinum (what is the difference between platinum and the original copy EXCEPT the price anyway?)

noone... give me a ftp site and details so i can upload there. i don't know of any site...

Difference between platinum and normal is just that... PRICE. the platinum sold enough copies so the sellers wouldn't be greedy no more so they make it cheaper. (halmost half!!)

you connected on 512? i'm only 128 so it may take a while...

gimme a shout via email friendz at acidrazor dot com

I'll mail you back after 16:00 with my FTP details, that way you can send directly to me and my IP instead of a 3rd party.

(hope it's the ISO btw)

And i dont mind it taking a while seeing as it's a 24/7 connection [:p]

check your mail... i meant it'll take a while for me... remeber 7% signal and all [:D]

Hi all

Please explain what bitorrent is and what it is used for. Where can I get a copy?

I assume this is something to make the surfing experience better/faster. What other software is available to help out making the whole experience quicker. I heard about an SA guy a while ago who had invented some kind of algorithm dingdang which increased your speed by several fold. Anyone know any more about this?

Thanks

I also heard about it. It goes as follows -
Fly to New York, plug laptop into almost any available RJ45 port.

Have a look here

bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/

In short it's a peer to peer file sharing network. It is the best for downloading the new stuff.

You can get the torrent (index) files from a place like suprnova.org

It works so well that some companies use it to distribute patches, service packs and large programs.

HAVE FUN! IT WORKS (even on my slow ISDN)

Man who walk through airport turnstile sideways going to
Bangkok.

Can you post some more info on this supposed SA guy and this "algorithm" that could (how?) increase speed.. the only way I know of that happening is as aftermath states or if said SA guy is a Telkom decision maker / manager

I have no idea what is is about.

Where did you hear about it[?]

Panties not best thing on earth but next to best thing on earth.
