Howsit ppl. I just went and bought a new 128k cellc sim card. Didn't know they were 128k sims. :erm: . I'm in central Durban. Got a phone with the new sim only searching for 3G network, 2.1G or 900mhz. Has anybody from the public have access the CellC 3G?

Having a 64k or 128k sim makes no difference to your 3G access, this is just a way of the networks making more money off you. Although to get video calling on mtn you do need a 64k, not sure of the Cell C situation. I don't believe there is public access available yet.

Does the sim have the new logo?

My other point, is that looking at the current state Cell C's Edge network. With the ever lasting network problems, you would think if the moved over to the next-gen linkage: that the service would be better?

We looking at HSPA + thats everything from 3G 384kb -> 1.8MBps -> 3.6MBps -> 7.2MBps -> 14.4MBps -> 22MBps
The question : Can Cell C meet the needs of South Africa? Look at Top Tv (sold out on day 1)

That would be a no. Some people did few months back, but that was blocked.

Yep. Got the new Logo sim card. Thawt it would make a difference, but guess not. I wanted a new sim, so i guess it was worth the 99c. Lol. Lets just hope to get public access this month. What speed would i get with a 3g HSPDA phone?

I saw the sim in Checkers, looks like a normal sim to me (how do you know its 128k?)

(on the topic of the 32k vs 65k vs 128k : Some time back I did some internet research as to what makes these cards so different. I found that these cards (65k / 128k ) allowed for secure connection to the network, as to say phone calls via these sims couldn't be listened to very easily : Don't hold me up to anything it was what I read, how true it can be or what is totally up to you to believe. I have a 64K vodacom sim and some time back i would get kicked off the network thou my 32k sim would work...So I think there more to just being able to store more sms's...last time I saw 128 is used for encryptions..maybe the clue lies there!)

Was on the Cell C 3G network (-77 dBm 18 asu) for about couple min's

Lol. They got this whole new packaging. It a 128k Sim is because they say it on the sim. Thought it made a difference. I saw the Cellc 3g today. Couldn't get access to it tho. Disappeared when i searched for it again. And that was with the normal 32k Cellc sim. Hope its up soon...

I've got a 128k Sim from Virgin Mobile, back when they were still fresh, I don't know if they still sell them though on the VM side of things.

i hear 20 august going live ,what mybb new says, but the prices include modem, hope you can buy data bundles separately:)

I am able to pick up a cellc 3G signal in Cape Town but can't register on it

Someone is testing in JHB!!! Wonder how that speed will degrade with more users!!!??!!!

I don't care to download at [-]14MBps[/-]17Mbps - as long as it can do around 3-5Mbps, and they sell it for R999, i'll be happy.

hopefully the topup won't be bad either - otherwise people might as well just buy another R999 special - so without the modem it should be even cheaper

Go CellC, show dem!
