I am quite a fan of mechanical, analog watches... But now I have a friend with a problem.. He wants to have the functionality of a smartwatch as well. I currently have a fitbit inspire on my right wrist and a Tissot PRX on my left wrist. It works seamlessly and no one even notices it on me. But my friend would love the cellular connectivity of a smartwatch since he can leave his phone and don't always have to carry it while still wearing his Rolex on the other wrist. Is there anyone who "double wrists" like in wear a normal watch in addition to a smartwatch? I know it probably looks silly but I have to ask (for a friend).

No thanks my Apple watch can do anything a normal watch can and then some. Sold my Fossil.
Technically it can't.. In 10 years you won't even have a Apple watch.. You will wear some form of AR glasses. Whereas something like a Rolex, will still work in 10 years and you can have it in the family like an heirloom. Applewatch won't work so great in 10 years and some master craftsman didn't spend hours of his time to make it haha

I love my Rolex but a smartwatch means I can leave it at home for day to day.

My smartwatch is a Apple Watch so it's more of a watch than a fitbit inspire.

Do you mean leave the Rolex at home or your phone? (From day to day). Because my "friends" main thing is to be less distracted. Getting notifications and phone calls on the wrist, but answering whatsapp and email on the laptop

I leave the Rolex home. I haven't found a PAYG esim for wearables in SA yet so I still need a phone for connectivity.

FWIW I've found a smartwatch to be just as "distracting" as a phone.

Someone on the forum is still using an OG Apple watch just to tell the time. AR glasses will supplement the watch since I'm not going to wear the glasses to pay at Checkers... Sure some high end watches appreciate in value but most don't and you need to service them every few years at a cost anyway.

Understood. It's just cool to have something without control electronics, being able to accurately display the time. But agree on the AR glasses being a supplement to the watch. I know this all sounds silly haha but some die hard watchnerds just don't wanna giveup their watches for a wrist computer lol

how can you get any joy from wearing a soulless piece of electronic junk on your arm instead of something that has a heartbeat and lives .leave the techno crap at home

Haha I guess over time the novelty wears off. The Fitbit is my first smart wrist device. I'm Gen Z, thus don't wanna live in the digital realm all the time, wanna enjoy reality a bit more haha. But our generation is hooked to a smartphone and will stay on it all day!

Hahahaha agreed! But the silent alarms on something like a Fitbit and the notifications do help reduce screentime on a smartphone. It's just with Fitbit and Google now, it doesn't seem like there is something useful in their range anymore as they push people to rather buy a full fledged smartwatch. Guess one can always get a Xiaomi Smartband to get notifications and track heartrate

my wife uses the Xiaomi Zepp ( amazfit neo ) its great .you dont have to shake it like a polaroid picture to try get the screen on ,its allways on ,battery lasts 2 weeks and only like R700 in red or black on takealot its flawless .leave the plastic junk for at the gym or buy a proper plastic watch like a Garmin .anything on your wrist that has to be charged daily is crap

No thanks I love having my wallet and loyalty cards on my wrist.
Fitbit can luckily have the wallet as well (with the Charge 5) and it looks like a band. I just hate that apple is restricting third parties so much, as it would be nice to pair my iphone with a nice fitness band. Guess I'll just have to go to android

This dude wears boxers underneath and underpants over the pants, Superman style. I'm sure of it.

My previous Huawei watch worked fine with iOS. Their bands will be the same.

Other dudes probably wear a smart ring underneath their underpants and watch a certain website with "Hub" in it, on their Apple watch to get through their hard time at work... Haha nice to connect everything to the internet
