Web Africa ADSL general feedback

Let me make this clear to all people who are CONSIDERING web africa...please dont put yourself through the pain and misery that i have to put up with..they are useless and so is their service..99% of their responses are "copy & pasted"...you will read similar comments throughout this thread...it always seems as if i dont complain every day my service gets worse...for the past few days ive had terrible access especially with browsing and youtube...ive sent complaint after complaint and i continue to get THE SAME RESPONSES..sorry sir,no problem on our side,it must be telkom..then i get a trial account from another isp and guess what??Perfect browsing and youtube on the trial account...mmmmmm

Absolutely agree!

I'm going to try afrihost. Webafrica was amazing before IS move but that's just me personally.

It is not only the move to IS. There used to be client service, meaning someone on the other end of the line that knows at least a bit about IT. Now if you speak to 3 different individuals, you'll get 3 different stories.

Anyone else having crappy speeds when it comes to YouTube? I'm on a 1mb uncapped and get full speed on everything else...mostly, but YouTube gets stuck under 15kB/s. I know I'm on 4 stars, but I've been getting these speeds for the last week and during night times when it should hardly be throttled. Just want to know if the trouble is with WA, YouTube or me.
Thanks!

This will prob be the last time I post here but just want to say that the speed of YouTube and just in general is amazing once I left WebAfrica. Really sad but glad I moved..

Yea my youtube doesn't load most of the time and if it does it autos to 144p. It also seems like throttling night/day doesn't actually come into effect. It's always throttled regardless of time of day. I did notice a huge improvement when I stayed awake past 00:00 so it just seems like they don't unthrottle at night as they claim

so irritated with these RA speeds right now :/
After posting here Taariq called me and he knew what he was talking about and was really helpful, but since then been dealing with call centre randoms who have the standard response of 'we're waiting for feedback from our engineers'
Think the IS network is such a fail and its a pitty, they've got a great brand, but they don't provide a fraction of the service that telkom internet/saix does

Yup, it does seem fine now, but it's the weekend, and if things haven't improved on Monday I think I may be ready to give up this RedAfrica deal finally & make Afrihost my main account.

My speed is always fine after hours and on weekends. During the day it is really crap amd my wife works from home and that is when I need the better performance.

No comment from WAJustin for a while. Says a lot about customer service. Would be good to see more presence from WA

I have been with WebAfrica for the past 4 years, havent really had any issues till recently. Speeds have been terrible over the last couple of weeks, have a 4 meg line and cant even stream normal quality videos properly. Seriously considering switching.

I'm on 5 stars, 10mb account and line, and can't stream a youtube video at 720p for more than 5 seconds until it needs to buffer. Shaping rules need a serious investigation..

I see that I can get a 10GB account from somewhere else at R49/month, I'm currently paying R149 at WA, why should I not move?

Hi guys,

As per our status page we have been affected by the recent spike in traffic demands due to the iOS7 and GTA5 updates. Our Network team have advised they have shaped the iOS7 updates so it should not impact the other protocols as much and we are continuously monitoring the situation.

We must apologise for the inconvenience caused by this issues and we will post further updates as soon as we have more information.
