Web Africa ADSL general feedback

Yeah, it's been taking a few tries over the last few days before I'm able to login to WoW. My Afrihost account always logs in first time, so def something up.

Also slow FTP to local (Hetzner) servers today.

Things certainly not right, and no response from WA reps. Very annoying.

I am having problems with gmail too, and also gaps of no connectivity.

Come on WA let's get this sorted and please give us some honest feedback

newsgroups must be really the lowest of the low in terms of priority

from 0 KB/s at 1pm to 400 KB/s at 5pm - just tells you how it is.

What bothers me is that I bought a 2Gb account so I can use it to play League of Legends cause lets face it Webafrica does give very good latency [maybe just me but they are tops with international gaming be it pc or xbox 360] but there is nothing more frustrating than playing League of legends and getting disconnected and then reconnect to find out that you died. Not fun and its getting on my nerves now.

Sadly I will need to look at another ISP for decent international gaming.....

Just cancelled my Titan Complete 2 from end of next month
Can't take the hassle any more
WA used to be good but now.....
Will also investigate moving my Clients and ADSL Realm as not worth the grief I get from my Clients

This is ridiculous. Now even News24 videos won't load.

The only thing that has kept me with WA so far was me having my ADSL line rental with them too.

I've now reached a point where I simply don't care and will probably move the line back to Telkom.

Jeff, we need answers mate, please. Also considering moving to another ISP if this carries on.

Can't stream.

Switched to AH and it's fine.

Performance today? Anyone still on WA or have you switched to your backup?

Newsgroups back down to 0 KB/s

This is related to the Google Caching Outage which is putting more load onto our upstream links.

Hello Jeff,

A string of us are complaining about various problems and asking for feedback. So are you saying that this is all related to Google caching outage? I am sure not, but the more you do not just give us honest feedback on what are the problems, the deeper you dig yourself and WA into the ground.

Jeff, WARoop or someone from WA, we really would appreciate some feedback on why there have been so many problems of late and when we can expect decent connectivity again. I do not think this is too much to ask.

Thanks in advance

Google services will be slow, and as a side affect - more load would be put on our links.
I wouldn't post something up that isn't the truth, we should all know by now that it's not the way I roll ;)

As I've mentioned above, because of the caching service is down - this affects the following:

  • Slow Google services (primarily)
  • Because caching is down, this causes more load on our other links - both local and international
  • Instead of pulling content from the cached server, more data needs to be transferred across our upstream links, causing slow traffic

Problems as of late - I'm aware of the NNTP issue earlier on in the week and this issue. Outages happen from time to time, but by no means has our network been down and out for the past month. What issues have you experienced, apart from isolated incidents related to DSLAM's, exchanges and issues out of WA's hands completely.

Thanks for the feedback Jeff. Maybe because I am not tech savvy, I can't see how this one issue can be the cause of all the various problems

As this thread has made quite clear, I am by no means the only person with problems. I do appreciate that some of my specific issues might be out of WA hands, but just go through the thread and you will see a string of people who are saying there are issues. By asking me what are my problems, you are ignoring all the others who have posted. I do feel that we have made it clear that there are issues with speeds, connectivity, news servers etc. Please could you address these or are you awaiting feedback on them all? Thanks a lot

sc2 and wow down again on Webafrica......starting to get annoyed
