No, unless your wireless signal is really REALLY crap,or jumps between channels forcing your device to reconnect each time, and slower than your internet line, then yes, buffering MIGHT happen.

However, I sincerely doubt that buffering is due to the fact you're on wireless at home and not a LAN cable. Exchange and speed tests doesn't mean anything when the streaming you're doing is slow. We all know ISP's prioritize speed test sites, so unless the speed test you did was on the streaming provider's website you're using, I don't think it's an affective measure to say there is nothing wrong with your line.

Willing to bet switching to a LAN cable will still make it buffer

Could be the streaming service you're using. Since you specifically said "Not Netflix" it sounds like you're using a free service and they are usually crap. That's why they are free.
 
is download plus the same times over the weekend as it is during the week?
 
Sigh ...so sick of isp hopping.... Paid for 200gig bizniz account... First they double billed me....sorted... Now they throttling the shi@t out of me... 20mb line downloads at 600kb/sec and heavy packet loss etc. On a 5gig afrihost account no problems..... Why o why.

Haha, got a test account, test account ran at 1.2mbps and my account at the time was running at 6mbps, so told me absolutely nothing.

That being said, account was full speed all weekend. Felt good

Last month, with the 50TB download plus promo, I accidentally left my downloads running and I ran out of cap towards the end of September. It was really painful to try and stream Netflix on my backup account with another ISP. My WA account has always streamed perfectly.

FYI, did a port reset, it didn't work. I even had my provider change my FTP server to a different location. Didn't work. I tested my hostgator FTP account, still slow.

Business Accounts are shaped to 35kb/s if you're on the 2mb package. So buyer beware.

FTP is not shaped and is one of the protocols that has the highest priority. PM me your account details and I will get our team to run a few tests.

Could you PM me speedtest and trace route test as well as your account details so I can get our team to assist.

Also if you switch the player to HTML5 player does it still buffer?

Hi Envo,

As per our email correspondence one of our Engineers has confirmed the issue with your FTP is not from our end. The engineer has sent you all the information and data via the ticket which proves that we are not limiting FTP on our network or your account.

Please do the checks as he has outlined on your account and let us know what you find.

I have a question about the Capped packages offered by WA(900gb specifically).I noticed that it offers 4 concurrent connections.My question is if i take said account and load it on 4 different routers in 4 different households,each with a line speed of 2Mbps,would each router be running at 2Mbps( 2mbps x 4connections) or would the speed of each be 0.25%?

Silly question but Im thinking of doing something like this.
If 3x households had 2Mbps and one 4Mbps,would that affect it differently?

No all accounts will run at full line speed. We do not share the load when the account is used by more than one line :-)

Use our free 2gb account to test this for yourself.
 
Can someone explain what the deal with the business capped accounts are, like the 600GB one, 200 anytime and 400 from midnight to 6am....shouldn't capped accounts be unshaped and un-throttled at all times?

You pay for 200GB. You get an extra 400GB between midnight and 6am.
