Web Africa ADSL general feedback

question for the WebAfrica guys :)

Im looking into getting the 4mbit Business uncapped or the Pro Business uncapped,

I have no real idea how the stars work and rating ect, how much is generally acceptable for downloading during the day?

and also how is streaming services like youtube/twitch?

then lastly how is gaming using these accounts, mostly local, css/dota but also international general,

Im tired of paying afrihost for their "business" accounts.

I can't comment on the business package as I've never owned one, but regarding the stars which operate the same whether home or business, just with different thresholds (AFAIK), best to try it out yourself as, at the end of the day, nobody knows how they work, as it's a dynamic system, and only come into affect when the network is under load, which isn't all the time, so hard to judge...

All depends how much you wanna download and when.

If you need to download a lot during the day go for pro, if not, business is great.

Everything is full speed.

Business accounts actually have more lenient 3 level system.

Here's mine:

Holy crap, Web Africa has the worst customer service. In the past two weeks, I've contacted them on three occasions. Two times without reply or worse, Richard who abandoned our chat.

Just switched over to WA recently, got 2 packages with you guys. 2Mb and 4Mb both on Home Uncapped.

Checking the usage of the 2Mb, I see 20.9Gb has been downloaded since the 17/10 and it's sitting in a 2 Star rating.

Is this normal? Pic below.

Just to add here. Looking at your usage patterns the 2mbs account is not suitable. Like the other guys said a Home capped will be better or a Business uncapped.

Hi Paperweight,

Sorry to hear you having such a terrible experience with us. Could you please PM me your account details & I will arrange a call form our team.

if you stream around 250GB over the course of a month in the afternoon/evening on a home uncapped account (20meg), is that likely to have an adverse impact on the star rating?

edit - large downloads can easily be scheduled for after midnight

I want to know as well. Moving from Afrihost.

Depends on your line speed.

for 250GBs day time usage you will need 10Meg Business or 20Meg Home uncapped.

I have a question about billing on WA.

When I joined I accidently signed up with Debit Order option. I set my profile (preferred payment) to Credit Card Option, but when I received my bill yesterday (that is due on the 1/11/2014), it said Debit Order.

How the heck do I change it do Credit Card?

Just pop them a mail.

Whoop on 4Mbps with Web Africa, moved from Telkom super fast. Great service after a few hiccups from both sides

Been having issues with streaming music using Tunein recently. Buffering is poor and cannot connect to streams.
I have a 10Mb uncapped ADSL package.

Youtube, Netflix and internet video streams okay.

Personally, never had a problem with them.

At this point I am very happy that I moved over to Webafrica...Currently on 4Meg line with a Capped Package.

Me too. Actually upgrading to a 10mb line this month because I'm dropping multichoice. ;)

Hi Milomak,

If you going for a 2mbps Home uncapped account you should be able to that easily as the thresholds are high on a 20mbps account.
