On my 4MB HOME UNCAPPED account......I need to use a maximum of 2GBs or less a day to stay in the 5 star category and all downloads should be queue between 12am and 6am.

This also makes it difficult on weekends as anything before 12am counts towards your bandwidth usage, so one needs to watch your usage so as to not end up in the lower star categories.

If I use around 4GBs a day and queue all my big downloads between 12am and 6am I end up on 3 stars.

Still contemplating if this account will work for me or if I should move and download what I want when I want for a little bit extra.

If only Web Africa would allow weekends and public holidays not to count towards your usage, this would make this account a very worthwhile competitor, especially at the price.

Meant 4Meg business. You'll be much happier.

Actually you could even run a 10meg HOME account on your 4meg line and get higher thresholds for cheaper than 4meg Business.

can u run a vdsl account on adsl?

like 20mb home on 10mb line,as both cost the same,wonder what the diff is
seeing as the 20mb only have to run at 50% to get "full speed"
so 50% room for slowdowns b4 u feel it :P

Don't get me wrong, while on 3 stars, emails, browsing, youtube are all still pretty fast. Your online gaming will suffer a bit. But to put it bluntly, because you used more than 4GBs a day you will suffer.

But I agree, it's not very simple as it should be.

Maybe one day a company will come along and tell you in black and white:

UNCAPPED with a FUP.

Thresholds are as follows:
2MB - 100GB
4MB - 150GB
10MB - 300GB

12am -6am does not count towards thresholds.

Thereafter P2P/torrents/downloads will be shaped till month end.

Plain and simple. :whistle:

MWEB Works like that and CrystalWeb too ;)

Web Africa's method is nice though as if you need something you didn't plan for you can just download it when you need to.

Comes at a hefty price of R699......

If someone could tell me what is allowed daily before I start dropping stars that would be appreciated.

I would probably consider CW 1st as it seems you can use quite a bit before any shaping occurs. Or at least that's what they claim.

The 10Meg home is only R499.

You could probably double or triple your day time stuff.

That is something to think about! Anybody give me some details on how much they able to use on this account before moving down the star system?

I've done 58.4GB so far this month, sitting on 3 stars atm. About a quarter of that number was done between 12am - 6am.

Yeah, but we only 7days into this month. You still have 3days from last month affecting your stars.

Has anyone else had any issues with the Internet suddenly disconnecting every 20-30mins or so?
I'm based in the Morningside - Sandton area.

I've also BEEN looking for these damn stars. Where do I find them on my DSL console?

home uncapped - over the weekend is 00h00 - 06h00 still the time downloads don't count towards cap?

Hello WebAfrica Helper.

You quoted 4 members in your reply, all from the Southern Suburbs so it cannot be an individual issue. This in itself is an indication of a problem, which has still not been resolved.
The weekend was OK, today the internet is frustrating to use.

Today is the 10th of the month, 4Mb Home Uncapped, usage 26.1Gb, 3 Stars.
Sooooo Slow.

Perhaps you can suggest a different account.
