Web Africa ADSL general feedback

How accurate is the usage stats in the client zone? It says I'm only on 46.5GB for the month so far and I'm finding that a little hard to believe. I stream a LOT.

Stop with this ****ty "HEY 400GB ACTUALLY NO 100gb anytime + 300 afterhours"

Its stupid illlogical and so on and so forth. Do yourself marking team a favour and trash that retarded system.
 
They are quite clear about how it works on their website, if you cannot understand it or dont like it, dont use it.

I for one appreciate the service. its at the right price, and most if not all my downloads happen after 12pm. I have a 90gb, 180gb package and the 90gb allows us to pretty much do anything we want, netflix, gaming what ever, for R299?

Find me a better package with the same speeds.

I think it works pretty well. For those that can schedule their downloads it gives them A LOT MORE DATA for the same price as other ISPs.

I agree. The capped packages is perfect for me.

What makes it even more awesome, every few months there is a comp running and then usage between 00:00-6:00 is uncapped.

Vox telecom. They have R59 uncapped bolt on bundle. That works very well for speeds up to 10mb. Also the volt on uncapped is from 6pm till 6am and all day weekends.

For the day time hours I use afrihost and web Africa capped accounts as needed. Both of these accounts are the entry level R30 accounts.

So my total adsl data cost is R120 and I get uncapped internet.

downgraded from business to home ,as i dont pull that much data anymore

webafrica truly the best isp :)

use googles dns
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

i find that its alot better than the DNS webafrica use
its faster and more stable,and less website loading issues

We had a few DNS issues over the weekend but this has all been sorted out. If you still having trouble please let me know.

Due to the DNS issues over the weekend our ADSL team have been busy. Did you manage to get hold of our team yet?

Video Stream Priority

@WebAfrica Helper

I just started on a Home Capped Pro account, mainly because I stream from a couple international providers and I see the priority is gold -> very high for audio and video streaming.

My question is, does WebAfrica put in priorities based on streaming providers explicitly, eg: Hulu, Netflix, Youtube? Or do you "sniff" the packet to determine it should be high priority?

I know you guys can't please everyone but have you considered adding more capped packages, it jumps from 120GB at R399 to 200GB at R599, why not have them follow up like the smaller packages started, having the next logical step be 150GB at R499.
 
Anyone else having issues in the Randburg area, seems to have been dead from around midnight, still cannot authenticate. Modem log just says: timeout waiting for PADO packets...
Seems to be on my backup ISP account too, will log a call with Telkom just in case.

So i am thinking of jumping ship from Afrihost to WA. What is quality like? Or more, I mostly use netflix. How is the netflix streaming on WA?

I get Netflix in HD quite regularly. never been an issue me. Twitch, which is also a problem on AH, is perfect on WA.

Thanks. Is this the whole day? I see WA shapes P2P during the day, is netflix also shaped or does it run fine during the day as well?
