Web Africa ADSL general feedback

Hey Fur,

Sorry if I missed any of your PM's, usually it's better to post online first - and PM if required. Had a look at my page 1 of PM's and noticed the last one I received was on 22-09-2011 12:16 PM, almost a month ago.

In any case, regarding your connection dropping all the time - I don't see why your WA account disconnects but the Telkom account is stable. Seems a bit strange :/ It could be related to a congested/ intermittently faulty exchange in the area. Since your line is with us, I've requested that our Networking guys look at this and escalate where possible to get the problem solved.

Hey Jeff

After the last message i sent that i did not get a response i kinda took it as i should not bother thats why i have not sent anymore, the reason why i opt to send a private message as i dont like complaining on the forums.

Second off my connection does not physically drop it stays connected i just lose all connectivity to wa for 10-15min and this started in August when all the other problems at WA started.

I dont believe its my exchange as i have never had this issue on my telkom account, on WA (when its working) and my telkom account my DL speeds are great usually around 480-600kB/s. Also does not make sense that my exchange would get congested for 10 -15 min and then suddenly be ok again, if its a faulty exchange it would effect my telkom account which it does not

correct me if iam wrong but if it is a faulty exchange or congested would i not also have issues on my telkom account?

your WA speedtest show, your isp is wireless business solutions and not wa.

Yea i noticed that was connected to a clients vpn (who is with iburst) only picked up on that now forgot to disconnect before i did the speed test.

like i said normal WA speeds are fine its the sudden drop in connection thats bothering me

I believe that our ADSL guys are looking into this one for you, and providing the info onto our Networking guys to see what the problem is here :)
Hopefully we'll have some feedback for you soon.

Jeff, please can this latency be looked into? It is going up and down and really should be stable at mid 200's. If you look back over my last few posts, you will see how it changes.

Thank you

I've created an escalation for our DSL and Networking guys to look into this.
We'll have feedback for you a little later on today.

Jeff, I'm going to go bossies with those clowns in your support department. They have a response rate of one email or call a day and a resolution rate of 0.1 a week. I still can't connect on many of my RDP and VNC ports on a Webafrica business account that I can happily connect to by buying some pay as go bandwidth from Afrihost. Your support staff keeps asking the wrong questions and ignoring the pink dancing elephant in the room, your shaping/throttling on my account is out of control.

This is rapidly turning into one of my all time worst ISP experiences ever(support's indifference to my issue is galling) and I am pretty much at the limit of my tolerance, if someone doesn't fix this very soon I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Hi viisiix,

I believe that the previous query was dealt with surrounding non-standard RDP ports and was resolved?
I'll have management look into this.

It hasn't been resolved because I have to connect on various different RDP and VNC ports depending on my customer's setup. Your support has managed to have me connect with one additional port only. I first reported shaping/throttling issues on my account on the 4th of October, it is now the 25th. I have made daily requests regarding this fact and if they have been unable to comprehend this and explain this to you then they have demonstrated exactly why I am getting so frustrated.

In the simplest terms possible, please grok this and then have your support team justify the fact that your R2400 business account is less useful than a R39 account at Afrihost.

Thanks Jeff. I do appreciate this and will wait for the feedback and hopeful resolution

Having a problem with my line. Phoned WA last week about it and they reported the fault with Telkom. Telkom agent phoned and gave me a long story about having problems with Webafrica, repeating he'd have to charge me a call out fee if there was noting wrong with the line. Said I should try another ISP which I did but the problem persisted. I've since phoned WA two more times to get the fault report escalated but still have heard nothing from Telkom.

My fault should have insisted the guy get down here to sort it out *facepalm*

Now I sit and wait with the line dropping up to 5 times a day :o

Hi Jeff,
It is now 48 hours later and there is still no feedback as promised for Tuesday. Please can you give an update?

Thanks

Apologies Fulton.
I've requested that an immediate follow up be done.

Hi Alan,

Can you please drop me a PM with your client code, ADSL telephone number and the fault reference if you have it. I'd like to follow up on this and speed up the process where possible :)

Your line with WA? This is why I refuse specials with your line at an ISP. You just KNOW it's going to be a problem at some point ...
