Web Africa ADSL general feedback

Webafrica, get staff in to man the support lines/emails/live chat on weekends.
This is total BS that an ISP has NO support over weekends....
Unfortunately most companies are like that.

Go to a ISP that offers support on weekends, you'll pay more though. Try crystalweb?

"Hi Ryan

Thank you for your response.

I have escalated the fault from my side.

Your ref is: 141ATK270215

A telkom tech should be in touch during the course of the weekend.

Please do update us accordingly.

Thanks.

Kind Regards,
John-Paul van Diemel"

And guess what? That "should be" should actually read "when it snows in Mordor in 15 000 years time".

But thanks to ghostR who has offered help.

Hi WebAfrica Helper

I have noticed some issues with my internet access the last week or so.. Some pages open quickly and others stall and I would have to hit the reload button for the page to load. I initially thought it was Exchange related though today I tried it with my Afrihost capped account and the results on Afrihost are miles better.

A traceroute to google.com on WebAfrica Business Capped (120GB package)

NB. Second hop is not an issue as I block ICMP on my router. Test was performed at 12:30am.

Browsing feels light years faster on Afrihost compared to WA. My line syncs at 14Mbps on a steady 8.1SNR. Telkom speed test results are roughly the same on both WA and AH.. 11.8Mbps down and 1Mbps up.

Can you explain why the WA results are so different to AH? If it was an Exchange issue surely it would affect both accounts?

I am in the Jhb North region btw (Rivonia). Anyone else on WA experienced the same issues of late?

Howzit WA. We currently have 2 20Mb DSL lines at our business premises. We have 2 10Mb WA DSL Pro Uncapped Accounts for these lines. We get speeds just above 10Mb. I don't see any packages we can choose for the 20Mb lines?

Thanks.

Hi |tera|,

Try this link to get to our Business VDSL.

Our support team are operational on weekends but the queue can get a bit busy. So wait and response time will increase.

I will follow up with our team so they can stay on top of Telkom to get a Tech out.

Hi ndocrat,

Can you drop me a PM with your account details and I will get our guys to help.

It really does look like web africa is running short on support personnel at the moment. No answer at their call center, being completely ignored on live chat as well. Is really fun having a support ticket open for almost a week for a simple billing querie

I logged a support ticket on Saturday, account was tested and no fault found, so issue was taken up with Telkom. Thanks for the offer to assist.

Not when it's a line fault, exactly the reason I said the exchange line is bull****.

I had a problem, I posted in my ISPs thread, to see if other were having issues, as I normally do. No one did, I logged a fault with Telkom and it was resolved.

Still waiting...

Edited to add: got a phonecall from Telkom saying they will send a Tech out.
How long that will take and when exactly it will happen, only they know as the dude did not know when it will happen.

Uh-oh. What's wrong WA? Connection just dropped and won't reconnect to you. FNB Connect works fine.

Hi,

Is this issue still ongoing? If it is, please private message me your account details.
