I have seen over 700k/s sometimes and average about 250 on P2P.



WA, Telkom tech is FINALLY here sorting out what looks to be a few bad connections in the manhole outside our property.
Will update later on how the connection is.
 
Absolutely pathetic once again and this on a line that is syncing at 7Mb:

And as expected, the infamous Telkom SMS came through to say the ADSL has been "restored":

It is NOT fixed.

Now the usual run around will continue while their "techs" will "fix" the problem.
I am not surprised at this at all. Almost 5 years of this ADSL issue and counting. Yes, 5 freaking years. Sorry Telkom, but you fail on so many levels.

ghostR has tried to help by requesting that our line gets moved to a new MSAN that is a lot closer to our our property so that we can get 20/40Mb VDSL, but now I am seriously doubting that that even happened while the Tech was busy here yesterday.

WTF has been happening with WA lately? Speeds have gotten SO slow and gaming unreliable! Apprantly, 3 stars does this to you? Like REALLY now??? Not even @Axxess was this bad???? How can I also STILL be in 3 stars after 2 Months??????? I dont even download during day time, ONLY after 12AM to 6AM which isn't supposed to affect my ratings? WTF???

I'm also starting to wonder about the usage, my average daily (not including 12 - 6 am downloads), is around ~1 GB a day, which is just from games, yet I usually have between a 2/3 star rating. Latency is getting unbearable for games, with an average of 500 ms to local servers for most of the day (this includes after 5 pm) :(.
 
Seems that even on the free 1 + 1 GB account the latency is just utterly terrible. :(
 
Pity when things start going bad WA take years to reply. Sad that they are moving this way, they been my isp of choice for a long time but now I'm thinking of jumping ship. home capped accounts are as bad as throttled uncapped accounts.
 
So how is the star system monitored, weekly, monthly basis? Just wondering how because I want to improve mine.
 
Im just about to sign up with webafrica..im so nervous..hope its the right choice. We are not big downloaders with Torrents but heavy usage with gaming...hope i dont regret this as we want to move our line too.

Just set your big downloads to midnight and you'll be ok.
 
They usually do let the downloads run over night but the sales guys couldnt give me any indiction of what the threshold is on a 10mg uncapped line...4 x xboxes that download new games on the 1st and 15th of the month will be infuriating if they are throttled the next day and cant play them. From Telkom...our general usage was about 300-400gb a month?
 
I have a small WA account incase it's needed - since Saturday I cannot connect to it at all, router sync, account autenticate, no throughput.
Upon request WA provided me with a free test account which also does not work. Upon WA request I have set DNS to WA servers and Google servers and it still does not work.
THe line is erratic at the moment but my Axxess account works. I created a ticket with Axxess as they manage the line, Telkom technician was here yesterday - he went away to do something and he said he will call - which did not happen.

Somebody have any idea why?

It's more of when than how much you download. If you can schedule those downloads to 00:00 to 06:00 you'll be fine

Thanks so much. Will tell the guys to keep it at that then. Signed up so will see how it goes. Has to be better than Telkom right? :D

Hi I34z1k,

P2P and NNTP are only deprioritised during business hours after 5pm it should return to normal. Are you still having issues?

So, the high latency streak continues, except there seems to be a pattern appearing. Today, at ~4:45 pm, the latency shot through the roof, averaging at 700 ms for an hour before dropping to 400 ms to all local servers. Yesterday's problems also started late in the afternoon, I just did not check the time so I can't be sure of when exactly. But it's still strange that the latency, which was fine for most of the day, suddenly shot up to such a high value just a quarter of an hour before 5 pm.

Not picking up any issues on my latency monitoring server on webafrica. Possibly exchange related? Which region are you in?
