Web Africa ADSL general feedback

Absolutely terrible. I have recommended to my company to move from MWEB to WA recently. I regret that more every day. WA has gone from the best isp to the worst in a very short time. Jeff as the spokesperson for WA on mybb you must be feeling the pressure to deliver on the promises of your company. Does WA just not care where their image in the marketplace is going? WA is living proof that paying more does not mean the quality is better. No redundancy is unacceptable.

All you people saying this is WA's fault disgust me.
If you did any research regarding the issue that EVERY international connection has, you would know its not in WA's hands to fix this.

Everytime something goes wrong, everyone jumps on their high horse and point fingers. WA has been a very good ISP sofar from my side. I have had no major issues, also no regular issues.
Their support desk and engineers work hard when **** hits the fan. They resolve it quickly, much quicker than most ISP. If you want to go raging about your ISP, go get iBurst and you can rage everyday. I came from iBurst to WA and its been heaven.

So next time your connection aint what you think it should be, first run www.speedtest.net and www.pingtest.net. Then go check your ISP's website for any notifications (WA especially are fast to put up notifications). After all that, come here and read the last 2 pages of your ISP's discussion. If you do not see any problem reported there, that is either WA wide or Country wide, then you can rage.

Back to normal for us too. It is not the outage as much as the redundancy that aches me. Outages happen, it is how it is mitigated that makes the difference.

Hey guys,

We experienced an outage due to our upstream provider having issues.
Please see the official outage thread for more details.

Date: 5 Feb 2012
Attending: Upstream provider
Impact: Customers may experience increased latency when browsing.

Well telling me to do speedtest.net and pingtest.net tests doesnt help me $$%% ;/
I CANT EVEN do that even when the account is more 'normal', yes when I try to see why my browsing is so slow, or why the pings are so bad ingame. I have tried since the 1st, and couldnt do one single test to those two sites.

However, I can not say my experience is all just bad, I have to say on the 1st, and over this weekend the pings and downloads were better... so when it died last night I suspected its an overall problem, and did my research accordingly. The 2nd and 3rd the internet was just absolute crap, without me getting any notice what is wrong.

Streaming issues

Well, after the latest issue, I am still battling with streaming internet radio via iTunes

I have tried 5 different stations, and all buffered after a few seconds, and it goes on, so at the end of the day I can not listen. Even a 64kbps stream can not stream properly. This has been the story for a while now. At the end of the month, I thought it might be that, but now????

Come on WA, please give us a basic, decent service!!!!

Been using WA for just over a month and rather disappointed.Whereas all protocols work 100% all the time on my Afrihost account I often struggle with HTTP and streaming on my WA account.Performance definitely seems to suffer during business hours and I have to wonder if their network is not oversubscribed.

Ditto. I'm with WA exactly one month today...and going to give notice soon if things don't change!

Agree 100%

After 17:00 and streaming is perfect. All the same radio stations I tried before 5 and were giving hassles, are now working perfectly.

And to cap it all (excuse the pun) I am on a capped account.

Have just had a call from WA support (credit to them for that) saying they will look into it. The problem is totally on their side and just cutting back (priorities, throttling or whatever they choose to call it) on services to home users.

Well at 3 this afternoon, battle to stream internet radio..again. Try after 6 and...all fine.

I try to get to speak to the customer care manager at WA, but call (as usual) is put through to one of supervisors who deals with me (poor guy must be sick of my complaints by now - but credit to him for trying to help). Am offered a test account...again. On Afrihost all will be fine during office hours - the problem is WA network or protocols.

Maybe my account should be re-branded as a capped after hours account  I pay for a capped account that should work anytime, yet during office hours I am really limited in what I can do. I pay for a product that does not deliver and this is from a supposed top ISP

Sorry to be negative but I just wish WA would sort things out and that we can have a decent, consistent service. At present I feel we go up and down - things work for a while, then another problem crops up for a while and round and round we go

And another day of the same - NO internet radio streaming this afternoon before 5; now after 17:00 and a hassle free service.

No comments on this forum from Jeff as to what is happening with all the plans spoken about a week or two ago.

Phone WA to speak to customer care manager and am given the run about and discover in the end that she is in a meeting (again).
