Web Africa ADSL general feedback

Spoke to wa support and was told they are waiting for feedback from upstream provider. When asked what is wa plan b was told there is not one :(
 
WA must really be jinxed when it comes to Telkom. Other ISPs don't seem to get hit so often, especially towards the end of the month :/
 
I've moved over to Afrihost prepaid until this gets sorted. Flying on 10mbps.
 
My international speed test was earlier .06 Mbps DL and UL times out, on WA capped account. Now I tested again and would not even ping, so I switched to my Axxess 1 Gig prepaid and get .61 Mbps DL and .39 Mbps UL.
 
I may as well pack up and piss off home. No work done in the past 2 hours.

Download Speed: 136 kbps (17 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 275 kbps (34.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 205 ms

?? :(

Edit: This is Local, btw. Took me ten tries to get this result...the first nine tries just timed out.
 
Went down again just now for 5 minutes with "Authentication Failure" etc ...

This must be the WORST ISP in SA.
 
Haha this thread isn't busy because WA subscribers can't connect to complain! I'm one of them i'm using Afrihost right now.
Thank you WA its been great... oh wait no its been terrible. I'll have to move ISP's in a few weeks time if this continues.
 
And then they dare send me an invoice, right in the middle of the outage.... Three queses as to what my responce was...

WA - you can take your "redundant" IPC, your "1st tier" network, without redundancy or resiliency, and you can shove it where the sun doesn't shine. 5+ hours now... You're a JOKE for an ISP.
 
Can someone please assist. I tried to download exe files multiple mirrors/browsers and download managers but it does not even start downloading as soon as it points to an exe to. e.g CCleaner any mirror.

Do I have a virus or is this related to the WA problem? Local and international browsing does work. Just exe downloading does not.
 
I can only browse. Welcome to the WA browse only account with a FUP! Completely uncapped but only for your browsing pleasure :)

WA PR Guy: Our network sucks and no one can even connect everything times out.

WA network tech: hmmmm I'll just use one of our 5Gig capped accounts and allocate it to all our uncapped users

WA PR Guy: What? only 5Gig for thousands of users? they'll deplete it in minutes?

WA Network tech: hehe I'll block everything and only allow them to browse... 5Gig is enough for any man!

WA PR Guy: Yeah we are such an awesome ISP

I was able to stream (400 Kbps) for an hour but now it's buffering again.

So are you saying you can also not download exes as well?

I have been migrated to Webafrica's BIS service called WIS. :(

What? they only migrated you to their BS service now? Thought we all got their Bull Sheat service from the start?
 
heh - if you disconnect and reconnect your ADSL, it works perfectly for 2 minutes, and then passes all ICMP and UDP traffic, but NO TCP traffic untill you reconnect... ROTFLMAO - totally awesome network and service, why didn't I think about this before... Wonderful way to test your customer's patience...
