Ongoing frustrations with WA

Well, my frustrations continue. I now have a MWeb 1 meg uncapped account and what a pleasure. Browsing the net is fast and easy; I can be downloading from a news server and be browsing hassle free as I max the line out. I had forgotten what consistent, good speed on browsing was like - something I am enjoying with MWeb which performs way better than my 6 meg WA line. So basically I know what is a good service, and the fact that all works well with MWeb tells me a lot

I have many faults open with WA at present; including a line fault with Telkom that WA reported. Last night decided to try WA - browsing was slow; regular disconnects all the time; gave up; this morning reboot router and after a while disconnects and problems start again Phone support and speak to JP who tells me all is fine :( ANyway I ask him for a reference number for the call to be sent to me as well as for the matter to be escalated - he tells me Vaughan and Elridge will be informed and they will contact me. Anyway all I have is a customer feedback email and no reference number and no contact from WA (I do appreciate it is only 11:30 and maybe they have not had time to get round to it).

I am venting - loving my 1 meg uncapped MWeb account; really annoyed with long, ongoing hassles with WA and excuse etc. I am not a technical computer boff like many on this form. For me I look at what happens. MWeb happens great, and what should be a superior product from WA does not happen. I am hoping that by stating my frustrations publically WA might actually start getting stuck into my problem.

Vent over

Jeff you have all my details and if you look on my account you will see all issues etc

Hi grim.

It's most definitely not the website, but rather webafrica that is problematic on that site.

If you use the none ssl link: http://my.elitehost.co.za/speedtest/ you'll notice that speeds are fine. This indicates that something is blocking speed to SSL to that site, which I manage.

Also if you use the ssl version on IS or any other ISP, the speeds are fine.

It's not some obscure slow server I'm testing from. That's a server hosted on the IS network which only hosts that website. No problems on the server itself, only from webafrica between the hours of 9:50am and 5:00pm.

EDIT: This does cause some concern for all our clients who order hosting services from us who may be on the webafrica network as they'll have a very shoddy experience as our whole billing system is on SSL.

Hmmm... interesting.

WA isn't SSL suppose to take high priority during business hours?

My gmail can't connect to pop.webafrica.org.za. Did anything change email wise or is it currently not working? I can access the email from the website.

It seems to have worked until 11:21am which was the last time that gmail successfully retrieved email from my email address.

*edit*

It came through now so it's alright. :)

Just saw something about that in an Mweb thread...appears something between SA & google went fubar for a while. Multiple ISPs affected.

Well with Afrihost's new drop in uncapped prices, I am now at a point where I am considering canning WA and going to Afrihost.

My browsing at home is still up to maggots. I have to reset my router if I want to watch a damn You Tube video

WAJeff Please provide feedback on the following:

At 12pm last night as it has been since forever on my 1MB Uncapped WA account i couldn't open websites, couldn't use https, couldn't join games etc. Couldn't do anything. I could download p2p but do nothing else.

When will this be fixed? As in what date, in this format dd/mm/yy? Not we're working on it

As you might know Diablo 3 will be released next week, please be aware that if people can't play you will lose those clients me included so make sure it works 24/7. Tell your engineering staff, tell your CEO, tell your mom, tell whomever you want just make sure it works!! Otherwise you'll make the clients sad panda and the clients will make you a sad panda!

Well since my post yesterday morning, and an email to support and a senior staff member I have had ...... no response. Nothing.

I can understand no response to the post of this forum as these are selectively answered, but considering I asked to be contacted and have followed up with an email, that I find shocking.

Oh well, guess that is just another example of dropping standards at WA - very sad

Jeff will be here momentarily to ask for your client code and follow it up. The moment you make it public that support is ignoring you they want to jump to help.

I also inwardly chuckle every time Jeff promises you guys they're working on fixing and improving their service. Just like the ANC, there's lots of talk but not much action. How long have they been making promises now?
