The Home capped pro has less shaping during the day. Most people are fine with home capped though.

Naw, if you look closely, you will see it is the ESR hop that is missing. Telkom has beta tested replacing their BRASs to BNGs. These are now Alcatel Lucent devices instead of Ciscos, and Telkom hasn't figured out a way to make that hop pingable in a traceroute. This change will later on roll out for everyone, so nothing wrong with that trace and the stars at hop 2.It could be either a firewall or a bridged modem it looks like. OR the exchange / DP that you connect to does not allow IMCP packets...possibly.

TLDR, it is the BRAS part of the exchange hop, now called BNG, and there is nothing wrong with it.
Also, that traceroute looks perfect.
Hi Mythdragon,
I have requested feedback from our network team around this as there does seem to be a few uncapped customers having this problem and will provide feedback as soon as I get an update.
We have see an increase in network usage over the past months but our capped accounts are performing well at the moment with most customers very happy so I need to dig a little deeper.
Web Africa is good, just make sure that when you register you select the line speed that you really want, because it takes them forever to upgrade your line speed.
Still waiting for mine to upgrade...
No capped MYBB account.
In the WA customer zone they offer 'Home ADSL' capped and also 'Home ADSL Pro' capped. Can someone please tell me the difference. I assumed that capped was unshaped, so I don't know why they have 2 grades.
Also which one is equivalent to the 1gig free package?
So this thread was started in 2011 and is barely 300 pages strong. Is that due to a lack of popularity for WA or is it because, for the most part, the product works?
The capped accounts are good value for money but If you want to download during business hours you are going to be very disappointed. Was home earlier this week at lunchtime and got 100KB/s on a 10MB line(NNTP).I had to switch over to Afrihost to get 100% line speed. So this thread was started in 2011 and is barely 300 pages strong. Thanks but no thanks.Streaming etc all work fine.Switching to my back-up account and that works fine.Fact is WA are shaping NNTP and pretty severely at that. Please PM me your account details so I can get our guys to take a look.
Where is the like button when you need it. My knowledge has been improved today.
The 'Pro' accounts are on higher bandwidth priority so the overall experience and quality is better. Take a look are our bandwidth priority profile link here for more info.
The 2gb free account is on the 'Titanium' profile which is the same as Home Capped. The Home Capped Pro account is on our 'Gold' profile which is the same as business capped.
