Web Africa ADSL general feedback

Made a huge mistake moving to them, and i just moved my line too! We are down to 2 stars being throttled after 170gb on a 10mg line..and all being ligit downloads, mostly for the husbands new xbox..ridiculous and I fekking asked the consultant what the thresholds are for a 10mg line and he wouldnt/couldnt tell me.

yet you signed up?

Vox is pretty good for after hours uncapped. I basically get my full 10mb speed all weekend. During the week I use Afrihost and web Africa capped accounts as I not home so don't need uncapped. After 6pm is uncapped again until 6am.

My rule of thumb when comparing capped and uncapped accounts is to see how much capped data the same price gets you on a similar priority level.

I know I'm going to sound annoying, but if you want a proper threshold, get capped. Now that you know 170GB is more or less your threshold on uncapped, get a 200GB (anytime, 800GB insomniac) business capped account for R899, where 10mbps business uncapped is R999. The Business Capped is higher priority than Business Uncapped, so win-win until your usage increases of course. Since business uncapped and home capped are the same priority, a home capped account at R899 for 300GB anytime is also an option.

^^ This. I really have minimal complaints on my home capped account. I always read about people complaining about their ISPs; the first thing I always check is whether they have capped or uncapped accounts :p

My 4MB account used a mere 55GB this month and I'm down to 3 stars. I had no idea the thresholds are so low. I'm moving elsewhere.

Our uncapped accounts use a dynamic system which takes network load into account when determining your star rating so with the load it was currently on it would have affected how quickly your stars drop.

Things have improved on the networks side so you should have noticed a change.

Suddenly getting 4meg on a 10meg line with 400ms latency. I reset the router/modem, then its back to 10meg, then after 2 mins its being throttled again. I'm on capped. WTF WA? Refund ALERT! :)

That latency is very bad. Are you still having issues? drop me a PM if you are and I will ask our guys to take a look.

Guys,

We have made changes to our network so things have improved. If you still having issues please drop me a PM so I can take a look.

Business uncapped pro here, still having issues. 0.5Mbps on a 4Mbps line. See my PM for details.

Seems like it's the season for ISPs to falter - all the ISPs on my shortlist of possible new ones are all giving issues.

I hope this wave doesn't take too long to ride...
(currently with Cybersmart and Afrihost)

Is anyone else having issues with Unotelly on Webafrica?

I cannot access www2.unotelly.com. Switch to Telkom account and it works fine.

EDIT: nevermind, just as I finished posting it started working again.

Get told after numerous back and forth emails from webafrica support, that my line speeds are inconsistent. Last email I get the guy tells me, someone will be phoning me on Saturday (21st).

Still waiting for the call.

We are down in Jeppestown at the moment. I'm trying to figure out if my line is down because of the rain or if it is something else.

OK looks like it is stolen or damaged cables in our area... or maybe wet because of the rain.

Hi Convex,

I have just spoken to our ADSL team about your issue and a Senior will give you a call back shortly. Apologies about them not calling you as promised and our ADSL Manager will be taking that up with the her team.

The majority of my WA experience has been excellent - streaming, gaming and downloads all work beautifully, even when you're hovering around 3 stars, however, your chat support is horrendous and really lets the company down. I waited in the queue for about 5min (no issues with that) and was then passed to a operator who sat idle for more than 10min without saying a thing - he didn't apologies for making me wait and then barely answered my question.

WebAfrica Helper, you've been great, but I hope that you can pass this message along the internal channels and get them to up their game.

Hi Masataka,

Thanks for your feedback and apologies for the live chat issues. I have passed this onto the relevant manager to address.
