Web Africa going uncapped finally

Hi All,

As the page suggests this is a Business Uncapped product, it's not designed with home users in mind (although they're welcome to use it).
It is designed to offer the highest quality uncapped experience, and is targeted specifically at Soho and SME sized Businesses.

Unfortunately, Uncapped for home users with the quality levels you've come to expect from Web Africa, specifically at the pricing points you are looking for, is something we can't currently offer.
To be viable, either the quality has to drop a lot, or the price has to increase significantly, and we aren't comfortable with either option at present.

However, with the cost of bandwidth decreasing, we are hoping that this scenario will change in the future.

To be honest, I don't get any "superior quality" from WA accounts compared to other ISP offerings.

That being said, the support is most of the time helpful and FreeZone makes WA accounts worth the extra cost.

I have been with WA for a fair period of time. Was lucky to get a myBB special. Initially things were great and I would have agreed that it is a superior product. Sadly things have gone down hill since. I am on a 4 meg line and browsing is a nightmare; listening to streaming internet radio is generally fine, but there are times I end up with buffering - for a 4 meg line, this is unacceptable. At present I am on their home pro package which is supposed to give me the very best and all I can say is that I have not seen any improvement at all.

The thought of uncapped is terrible - a selfish statement I know - as I just seen my poor current service degrading even more.

Yes I have been in contact with support on many occasions and have promises of regular daily contact which do not materialise and all that happens is that things get worse

i want the 30GB special again :-(.......il cancel my Mweb Subscription for this

I'm still on my Complete 7 from the last special. Awesome package, and combined with uncapped Mweb 384k it's got me covered. Only Telkom puts a thorn in there by only supplying 2Mbps on my line.

I still maintain that I want 100GB @ 1Mbps (or faster).

Heck, if they'd FreeZone the binary news server the 30GB would actually be enough already...
How's that for a product suggestion. R200/month for a FreeZoned news server? Or a more flexible R2/GB perhaps?

I unfortunately have the same problem ... using my webafrica account only to download things now, as it is too unstable to game with or watch even a 360p youtube vid.

Same here.

WA needs to listen to the consumer. Their BW is still too expensive and the service quality, particularly for gaming just isn't enough.

We definitely listen to our customers, it's part of what drives Web Africa :) Regarding the pricing, I see it's also something that has been brought up on our forums too. As Cliff has mentioned earlier, we're looking at changing our Data only packages, however our Complete offerings are extremely well priced as they currently stand.

When it comes to gaming, have you given our WAGE servers a bash? I personally play on these often with awesome latency results.

Quality stuff for a 10 meg line:

This is not an superior network, it is an superior joke!

These re-authentication attempts were not initiated by me or my connection, as the Telkom line authentication has yet to go down since the first of the month (same line - additional PPPoE); which is used for VoIP.

How did you get a 021 426 5000 # from Telkom, or is that edited out?

I requested it, the office numbers are 0214235000 and 0214265000 - there are few other numbers that end with 5000, however they are used for retainer clients and I do not wish to list them.

Let me know if you require a specific number...

.

I feel the pricing is still too high , it would be nice if you could maybe look into changing some of the complete packages prices as well.

Hi Michael,

Surely we've discussed this already?
Onto the auth drops, this usually relates to a line issue from a Telkom end. If we had authentication drops like this a lot more customers would be calling in, posting tickets and MyBB would most likely have a thread for it - however none of the above have happened today :)

Would you like me to have a look into something specific for you?

Pricing in general here qace or on a certain product? As both Cliff and myself mentioned recently we are reviewing our data-only accounts at the moment however our Complete packages are extremely well priced.

As an example for the Home Complete range, let's presume you're on tha Smart 10GB package and you've had it for more than 3 months, so you're now paying R599/ month.

You're paying for an Up To 10Mbps DSL line rental as well as 10GB's.
Some quick maths show that you're paying R186 for the 10GB's. The rest of the package cost is going to Telkom.

Will there be anything offered for home users? As I have just cancelled my MWEB UNCAPPED and UNSHAPED as I can't afford to throw money down the drain on a product I can't stream with. Do I go over to Web-Africa or someone else?

Hi Jeff; Yes we have and you continually blame Telkom - please, explain why the Telkom auth hasn't dropped, as it is running a pppoe on the same line and router?

Yes, as an example; Cybersmart (https://www.trltech.co.za/whmcs/cart.php?gid=15) can offer consumers unshaped bandwidth @ R 9.50 per GB = some quick math R599/ month provides > 60 GB of bandwidth (with a fraction of the issues compared to WA and far higher throughput no matter if it is OH or AH)

My issue with WA is that it claims its bandwidth is superior; someone should take this company to the Advertising Standards Authority for false advertising - http://www.asasa.org.za/Complaint.aspx

As an ex-client of WA I agree. They claim a superior system which they don't have . Their support is always blaming somebody else for the problems from Telkom to moon waves .

Slow response on ADSL

I've been a client of WA for more that 5 years already, however it does seem like things are going downhill. Everytime I have a problem I immediately get frustrated as I know it is going to be a huge issue to get resolution.

I've had slow response on my line for the last 3 days without any resolution, even though it has been reported 2 on the WA homepage as being resolved. Well, my problem has not been resolved and it is getting very annoying as my wife works from home and has a lot of documents that has to be sent back and forth. 3G is costing me a fortune at the moment and it just is not acceptable anymore.

The funny thing is that I can access the WA homepage but not the WA forums or MyBroadband. I wonder why??

I am seriously considering moving to a different ISP. Any suggestions?
