Hiya,

I got a domain (www.lookatmelearn.co.za) and hosting (Linux) package from Afrihost.

To be completely honest I don't really know what I am doing and just want to build a website and get on with it. I know a teensy bit of HTML script but would prefer to use something like Weebly or WordPress that lets you use templates and drag 'n drop facilities, but I know that most of these sites then do their own hosting and I can't, for want of a better word, seem to "export" it to get it onto the domain I bought through the Linux hosting package with Afrihost.

THIS IS THE REAL QUESTION: What is there that I can use that will let me make a webpage like that (like weebly or Wordpress does) and then use FileZilla to upload it? Does something like that even exist?

I figured out that I need an FTP client to upload the "pages" to my cPanel to make my webpage work, but to be honest, beyond that I don't have a flipping clue.

I'm not sure I even understand what I am saying above.

I'm student at Wits and I tutor part-time, I've realised that there isn't much support for the South African syllabus online and have been making a few YouTube videos to help out with that (channel is LookAtMeLearn) and want to set up a webpage to allow me to make more resources available. Please can you help me navigate this?

you can use the file manager in cpanel to upload your files and pages, and you can install WordPress on an AH linux hosting package

instructions on installing WP can be found here

http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress

also in your AH Clientzone you can create a basic site using the CM4all sitebuilder (I haven't used it so don't know its capabilities).

Thank you so much for your help - this looks like it is exactly the kind of solution I wanted. Unfortunately, Afrihost has put a 0 limit on the number of databases I am allowed to have in cPanel. I have emailed them to find out how to change that limit, and will complete setup once I have sorted it out. Thank you so much for sending the perfect solution!
