Web sQuad ISP - Feedback Thread #2

Thanks for letting us know. We’ll pick up this ticket and reach out for some more tests. Eager to get to the bottom of this for you.
Thank you there has been no problem except for other things which I suspect are either caused by my family visiting dodgy sites or the static IP I get from you is blacklisted or more along the lines that the rest of the world is tired of SA and now blocks users from SA.. too lazy to use the VPN I am

Anyway I digress

Your staff have recommended that I transition over to IPv6, the main caveat there is that I will need a new router which right now I cannot afford- my current RB2011 cannot do Fastpath on IPv6 so switching to IPv6 will create packet losses as the CPU will be maxed out.

Additionally I would have to run dual stack as many embedded devices exist here with only IPv4 and I cannot change that
The new router which would handle this properly is a RB4011… and that router is R4500 excl VAT.
I am hanging on for dear life to crappy employment in a very bad economy so that will have to wait I did tell that to your staff in the ticket as well

At the moment we don’t have any FTTH specials running for Black Friday.. Sinister is a bit of a harsh term I'd say. I know it can feel like everyone is being difficult on costs, but the reality is that fibre margins are razor-thin. Unless the fibre network operators offer meaningful wholesale promotions we can collaborate on, there isn’t much space to drop prices without absorbing a loss.

Good internet and reliable service aren’t cheap to deliver, and costs increase all the time. Any discount we give is directly out of pocket — and providing great internet and service isn’t a once-off task; it’s an ongoing service that requires constant investment and maintenance.

You chose Web sQuad because we do things differently: we’re hands-on, we care about the network, and we’re committed to delivering a stable, high-quality service. As we grow, we’re staying focused on keeping our standard high rather than cutting corners, and we really do appreciate the clients who recognise that and continue to support us.

If anything changes on the wholesale side, we’ll let you know immediately.

In good news... For those of you on Octotel, we'll be launching 2.5 and 5 Gbps on Friday!

As exciting as this is, I'm putting this to our community:

2.5 and 5 Gbps are speeds that NEED great LAN hardware, PC support and more. WiFi 7, 2.5/10 Gbps LAN and some serious routing chops, more-so if you want fireballing at that speed.

Is the market ready to spend this kind of money to get the most out of their shiny new Internet? And if so, do you want assistance from us to make this happen (hardware, install etc)?

Any indication that other FNOs will be following suit? I'm not even close to saturating my line but hey - bragging right right

Starts eyeing the UCG-Max and associated switch and AP upgrades.... 👀

Good is not cheap, I’ll happily pay the bit extra for the service websquad gives

We've had 2 Gbps on Waterfall Access Networks for some time now, but not many FNOs seemingly keen on 1 Gbps+. Hopefully this is the kick the industry needs.

I've had my eyes on some 2.5G friendly kit with WiFi 7 for home too, just need Vuma to come to the party and give me a reason to complete the upgrade.

What is going on with ping to Western Europe, I have an extra 40 - 50ms ping. London over 220ms

Not seeing any general issues, could be route/AS specific or something on last mile. Do you have any mtrs or IPs we can check to?

Not sure but was also getting kicked out from Tarkov for exceeding the 220ms ping limit in matches from European servers all evening (which wasn't happening before), that made me run Speedtest and the ping was horrible to multiple servers in London and Paris, so all of Western Europe was seeing an additional 20 - 40ms latency. Late in the evening I ran one more ping test and the latency was back down to 160ms so something resolved itself.
