Update on Vuma's terrible upload speeds and erratic network behaviour this morning. MyBB user @abudabi was one of the first to pick up on an issue with upload speeds this morning. We tested various endpoints on our network and established that the issue seemed to be isolated to the Olivedale Vumatel POP. It seems the issue has spread a lot further and is affecting a large subset of our Vumatel Trenched clients in JHB. It's taken a full morning for an acknowledgement from Vumatel, but enough pressure from many ISPs and we're finally seeing movement here. They have issued a statement to ISPs that their NOC is on it. Will update with progress as we receive more information.

Yay... what do I win :P

Looks like things are back to normal. Confirmed with susanna. :thumbsup:

Wow, so Vuma are capable of troubleshooting network issues... :rolleyes:

Is there any news on the SADV packages and network? Or are those going to be left for next year or something

Vumatel Update: We're received feedback that the issue has been resolved. Please can anyone affected test and let us know?

Only when the noise is loud enough, sadly :cautious:. And don't get me wrong, they have some of the best L2 engineers in SA on hand. I chatted to 2 other ISPs who contacted NOC this morning as the issue started, we were all told there was no problem. It took another 4 hours for an acknowledgement from Vuma. We'll be addressing this with them.

Anyone in DBN area (Umhlanga, DBN North, Mount Edgecombe) issues with Vuma/WebSquad? My connection is completely dead.

There was something wobbling on Vuma trenched Umhlanga/Durban North. Its fine now

@websquadza

See Cool Ideas slashed prices on Openserve. Anything happening at Websquad side? IF I will ever switch from Afrihost it will be to Websquad.

Cape Town , apparently yes i heard it from 2 guys on console.
The one guy is a streamer and playing in FN cash cup.

Sorry, but to Fortnite (AWS) EU 110 is impossible, they could have been connecting to South America.

Waiting on screens , we were hitting 130 140 when WS fixed some issues.
Myself and Comboy can attest to that .

We changed our AWS Direct Connect to Cape Town, which dropped latency a tad as this removed any transit and peering hops between you and the servers you connect to - basically you're connected to AWS' optimised version of their network from Cape Town onwards.. Nonetheless, WACS is the quickest route (shortest cable) to the EU, and the 140-150ms it achieves is close to spectacular. In game latency monitors rely on processed UDP data for their metrics, and I know UE has been working on a fix for their long time issues with high RTT (latency) UDP processing. A more accurate test is to actually run WinMTR between your PC and the server you're connecting to (if you can find its IP).
