What’s going on with international? Anyone else having issues?

We're making some tweaks to advertisements - trying to optimise routes along different paths and favour some of the new transit we're picking up - small blip as traffic re-adjusted.

Thanks for the explanation however issues are starting to seem frequent.

We're working to get the most out of the additional transit capacity we have. Especially because of the WACS issue one upstream experienced these past few days, looking to spread the traffic a little better.

Morning all. Looks like another day of WACS maintenance - our upstream have notified us that whatever improvements were completed yesterday afternoon started giving issues again through last night. We're moving JHB's traffic load onto an alternative provider while changes are made. Unfortunately Cape Town clients will experience intermittent increases in latency while traffic is rerouted. We'll update once we're sure that the fixes are complete and holding up.

Explains why I was having issues:laugh:

Apologies for these continued issues - we have addressed this with the affected upstream and been assured they are doing everything they can to assist. Unfortunately the nature of the issue (sudden flaps rather than gradual prefix withdrawals) is making these issues more pronounced before traffic finds another path. We will continue working with them to get things back to 100%. Thanks for your patience.

Nature of the beast,at least there's some transparency on the notification end

Hell yes, I'll take an early acknowledgement and explanation of the issue any day instead of the continued denials and "everything is fine" messages I experienced with other ISPs.

Not seeing the increased latency from my side, but fair amount of packet loss when trying to game. Switched to Warp+ for the moment.

@websquadza MTRs are completely clean and latency is normal, but games are completely unplayable. Is that expected?

Nope - sounds like some sort of asymmetrical routing is still in play. Upstreams are still doing their thing, will update once the maintenance is completed and we can confirm again?

Sure thing, just wanted to check

Internet is horrific for the last 2 days, I see that I'm not the only one experiencing it. Web pages taking forever to load and coming back as "not responding"....

Nope. If https pages give you not responding, it’s probably MTU again. Broken TLS handshake is usually the cause of that error and that happens because of MTU. But if you have an example you want me to check, let us know.

Been chatting to the team at AEX who are investigating. Will follow up.

Edit: I see you are still at 1400 - let's move you back up to 1500, then slowly down until you find a MTU that works.
