Web Squad ISP

Just Commented. Remember the nature of peering is that we pick up the traffic at the closest exchange. So in the two tests above, both those ISPs hand over traffic to us at the closest exchange. (In this case, we pick up ISP V and S in JHB via peering - so that bandwidth is what they allow for national transit (I don't think it's a reflection of their actual national capacity, but rather a limitation to protect their networks))

Thanks for the excellent explanation!

@websquadza

Err

MTA SA - Pretoria... Where the heck is that route going?

Ah MTN... They can pick us up through 2 local peers, but their routers have decided that our HE routes are the best, the problem is MTN peer with HE in London. MTN don't peer openly at NAP and have fairly restrictive peering policies.

We've escalated this issue to MTN NOC and we tick all boxes for peering (finally), so they're in the process of establishing peering with Web sQuad nationally - things there move slightly slowly though.

@websquadza are you going to be peering with that new Angola Cables route? Will be interesting to see what happens with Twitch, since there are ingest servers in Brazil.....

Also dropping frame like they are going out of fashion again

Started the day at 6000kbps, and I just had to drop bitrate down to 4500 to keep stable :/
Edit make that 4000, can't maintain 4500 either :crying:

Edit 2: Switch to Cool Idea's relay and back to normal

@websquadza re:ticket 538744. I have uploaded the info on the ticket as requested. It seems my local download speed is literally half of the expected gigabit speed. Please help to resolve this issue asap.

@SNaidoo what are you using to test your speeds?

On the note of dissapointing speeds: IS is still so broken. I really do wonder what has been going on since their downtime... It's seems the wheels have totally fallen off with them :cautious:

@DarkSt0rm, I used local repos to download files. WebSquad kindly suggested them :). Microsoft, Wiru (above). Also IS. So far obtained max speed of 68MBps download from the Microsoft site provided by Websquad.

Major Vuma outage in Cape Town this morning. Looks like it’s been resolved though.
happened again just now, seems like they have the juniors on call this weekend :P. Luckily the problem gets sorted.

Vuma NOC say they’re on it. We don’t have feedback if it’s completely resolved yet. Will keep an eye on it and escalate again if needed.
