i did some WinMTR tests (in parallel)....

Looked through these MTRs. Battle.net shows 1% packet loss behind ae1-br01-eqld5.as57976.net which is a Blizzard IP which is continuously giving issues. https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/blizzard/t/ongoing-slow-download-speeds/4956. Our transit providers have reached out to Blizzard for this. That said, 1% shouldn't lead to complete drops. Can you check your resource monitor if Blizzard are using any IPv6 here (hoping we can see something else here).

Edit: Rest of the traces all look good with 0% loss (We can't see much beyond Optinet (MWEB's) edge.

Ok, i see when running CoD, it initiates a whole bunch of connections - most run a for a few moments and then finish. This one stays open. I suspect it's some sort of heartbeat?

This looks like an AWS IP. Interesting to see any packet loss there, that trace is via our direct connect in Cape Town. that said, once again, 1 lost packet in 30 mins won't drop you out of a game. Sounds more like a timeout to me.

Drop me that IP let me compare. Amazon transit has been pretty solid the last week. Really low latency even from JHB.

Obviously this is not on WebSquad network but does not matter as the traffic is anyways handled by Amazon after NAP Peering.

Sorry. Should've mentioned I did not have any disconnects in that session. I was just sharing to show the route.

I'll run winmrt while jamming (feel free to join our squad if you want).

And btw warzone is free all the time :-)

The Warzone servers are the worst is what's up, sometimes you get a good one, other times you get a bad one, it's like they wanted to be a battle royale so bad they even added RNG to the servers you get. Servers with inadequate resources and packet splitting which the game displays as packet loss.

Has anyone figured out the CoD Warzone disconnects? Been disconnected like a mofo tonight.

I'm having the same issues over the past two days, insane local ping in games randomly of 380ms and random disconnects

Definitely leaning towards this being a server issue. Optinet have a fairly solid network - I can't run an MTR to these servers because of all the security on them, so I tracked down a few other servers and set up monitoring to those (Obviously, I have no idea if they're in the same DC). So far, so good - no spikes or losses. Will continue monitoring, but I think servers are under heavy CPU load and not been upgraded since the spike in users.

It definitely is server issues, when me and my friends play we actually hope we get into a Middle East server not local because they run so much better than the local ones.

It's very possible, I am also leaning towards it being game servers and they're running a free MP weekend for everyone which adds even more load.

I find i only have issues with the Warzone ones and same with people i know. I don't own the game but when its been free weekends i play perfect on the normal game servers.

Weird streaming issue I'm having with my google nest hub. When I ask it to play me the news, it starts with sky news snippets and then goes onto cnn etc. Sometimes the 1st sky news clip is so bad that I've already made my coffee and finished in the kitchen before I can even know what the headlines are. It'll play for 2 seconds and then buffer for 5 seconds in an endless loop.

It did it tonight whilst doing dinner so I grabbed my laptop and started some traces. It only seems to communicate to 2 IPs. Any ideas? Isn't akamai supposed to be local?

Looking into this. Akamai is local, but some of their older caches are still sitting in the Optinet (Mweb) network. Odd return route being selected there though (forward route shows us favouring peering). Will look into what’s happening here

Yep, loads of people are having issues on wow today, its affecting people in EU too, so not specific to any ISP in SA.
