Something went boom, we seem to be on the failover routes again.

Our upstream experienced yet another flap on their WACS route today. We've been in touch with them since. One of the immediate changes they've made to their is an adjustments to the timeout period before reconverging routes and rebuilding tables. The timeout was relatively short and would lead to a full reconvergence and hence the prolonged, aggravating outage as traffic waited for new routes. They have increased these timeouts to try work around these flaps on the WACS path. In addition, maintenance is scheduled for Friday for a few last checks (traffic will be rerouted).

In good news today for Octotel users - Octotel are no longer standing by the “everything’s alright” mantra. The team there, like us are quite keen to get to the bottom of this. Please, if you are on Octotel and notice packet loss on the First hop, let us know- preferably send us a ticket so we can try immediately get on it.

Murphy's Law, past day or two have been pretty quiet on this front, or I just haven't noticed if it happened while I was AFK. Still keeping an eye on it.

Had some wierdness this morning, Vumatel Trenched, springs

something has changed on the dhcp side of things, for one, my public facing ip has changed, but the dns server ( also on dhcp) changed to something i've not seen before. Previously it would pick up 8.8.8.8 , but this morning it was on

Mine seemed down as well this morning, but was this dns thing

Can you ping 8.8.8.8?

Hi @websquadza,

Fibre line is down in kempton park (Vumatel trenched)

Please advise?

Can you please restart both the router and CPE to ensure DHCP get the correct details.

We rolled out a parallel net to test for a separate project on the Vumatel node you connect to yesterday yesterday and the trenched network saw it fit to distribute those IPs and DNS settings. We picked this up later in the evening and rolled back these changes.

You will pick up a new public IP. Please open a ticket if you don’t come online and our team will sort you out.

Just noticed two servers in Bahrain come up on the list in Apex with 150ms pings. Did you activate some new routing today / yesterday @websquadza ?

Yeah I still get a better ping to London, I'm just curious if these were new or some changes have been made on the routing side of things.

DNS issues? Couldn't connect to github earlier, and seems primary DNS coming through from WS is Quad9 9.9.9.9. Has this always been the case or has this changed?

Amazon direct changed some routes so that's why you seeing the reduced ping. You can see it in Fortnite, Apex and Overwatch all the ME servers are between like 130 and 150 ATM
