Amazon direct changed some routes so that's why you seeing the reduced ping. You can see it in Fortnite, Apex and Overwatch all the ME servers are between like 130 and 150 ATM

Aah good to know - thanks.

I don't know how this always times perfectly with when I'm having a winning game, I really don't. International dead again. Wasn't there some talk about alternate transit @websquadza ?

Is there any way to implement the Cape Town optimised routing automatically when using the failover transit? Anything latency-dependent pretty much goes out the window and I'm forced to use VPN software again to bring the ping down.

It is automatic - as explained in a post a little earlier, the issue here is that there are millions of routes that need to be recalculated every time a table withdraws- it takes a few seconds for this to happen and a few more for the new routes to be injected into FIB. The issue here has been the frequency of these outages due to the WACS circuit between Cape Town and London flapping. However, there is light at the end of this tunnel. Maintenance was done on the WACS service again today between 3pm and 4pm. The withdraw of routes was meant to be graceful (in a controlled withdraw, routes are calculated without dropping traffic, which would've just resulted in increased latency while traffic was re-routed. That didn't go to plan. We're told this should be the last maintenance cycle and the flaps should stop now. WACS is being re-introduced gracefully now.

DNS issues? Couldn't connect to github earlier, and seems primary DNS coming through from WS is Quad9 9.9.9.9. Has this always been the case or has this changed?

JINX had an issue today, which brought down our routes to Quad9 for a little while (routes were still up but traffic vanished into oblivion). We picked up on this and drained JINX pending a confirmation it's resolved. Things should've normalised rapidly?

Yes, was only out for a few minutes as far as I could tell, but changed DNS my side to continue working so it could have been a little longer.

<edit> it is odd however that your secondary DNS 1.1.1.1 didn't appear to resolve either or I wouldn't have noticed the issue </edit>

This is one month latency, packet loss and outages on their bloudraad. They don't accept this as proof. Its a 1 month extract out of an influxdb.

I'm on Vuma Trenched /CPT and yeah. this weekend has been pretty bad. could not even watch the rugby at all.
Even watching the news in 30second increments. 30seconds on, 10seconds pause, 30seconds on. 10 seconds pause. Rince and repeat.

Where bouts in CPT? Also on the 1G package? Myself and couple other CISP / Vumatel users are also experiencing the same issues which started on Friday around 12:00

Northern Subs. Bellville / 1Gbit vuma trench

Thought so. I'm on 1G too, in Panorama. Def a Vuma issue...
Is there any speedtests one can do to determine this? or what tests is legit?

DC, What download speeds do you get from overseas? do you ever see more than 200mbit?

Here is my speedtest down now for you to Optimum Online in NYC. Pings are still higher than normal to UK and USA. This is a 1Gbps vuma trenched line in DBN.

Yeah I had some hope when I heard the Octotel CEO was involved, but it seems like more empty promises from their side.

Don't worry, everyone involved is still looking into this - will just take some time as all issues like this do... This is a slightly more complex fix than simply clicking a tick box. At a core level, something is wrong. Yes, as @r00igev@@r pointed out - there are some glaring faults (port isolation and port security notwithstanding). Think of this situation as telling another guy that he's not braaing his meat properly. Tell him outright and, well, it won't go that well.
