JHB Emergency Network Maintenance notification:

We’ve picked up on an interface issue resulting in a small amount of random packet loss. We’ve moved as much traffic away from the affected device as we can. We are still seeing some losses though.

The affected device needs to be replaced. We are going to be installing the new kit shortly.

Services will be completely moved across during a maintenance window below:

Date: 10 December 2020
Time: 02:00-03:00
Expected downtime: 10 - 15 mins

Our teams will monitor services carefully to ensure everything is 100% restored after the move is complete.

just posted now- we’ve picked up on a hardware fault. New device was delivered just before 6pm and team is already at Teraco installing.

moving services over is service affecting, so we’ve scheduled a maintenance window for the early am.

Apologies all. This was a config error on AEX's interface for JHB made while prepping the changes for the new hardware tonight - it should not have affected you, but it did. This issue has been resolved.

If we'd had our way, we'd have locked up configs for the year already. We've been doing some major upgrades in the background - mostly hitless (bar an incident or two), increasing core and access capacity and ironing out every little kink we can find. The particular hardware that's given us a headache today was scheduled for a more graceful phase out. However, the issues today bumped that schedule up.
