Ok - rebooted Vuma CPE as well as my router and all looks to be working again...

Talking about pings, I got packet losses to the US for a few days now. Small and intermediary but enough to be irritating when gaming. Sent you a ticket 989762.

Did a few MTR's, always one of these:

or atlas.cogentco.com

@websquadza - I see I've been downgraded back down to 200/200 again. I assume this marks the end of the promo period which is fine, but a heads up would've been nice, especially since I wouldn't expect the switch back to happen mid month and I was scratching my head wondering where my line speed went for a bit. Regardless, it was nice flying at 1gbps for a bit, much appreciated :)

Morning. Apologies, you should've received some comms and a phone call (we've been reaching out to all the promo clients individually) - if you haven't received your call, you should still get one. I think line processing is just moving faster than our phones can  Will check on the status with the team

Did indeed receive a phonecall just now :) Thanks again

Oddly, since returning back down to 200mbps, I'm having to throw MORE connections at NNTP to saturate my connection. I'm starting to suspect a lot of Octotel's problems originate with whatever throttling they employ to manage line speeds.

I'd actually like to look into this a little further. @r00igev@@r you had some opinions about Octotel's rate limiting some time back if I remember correctly?

Octotel has arista in the access but I think the rate limit is on the ont.
Octotel's problems are related to the brainfart of not using client isolation That means anyone on the access can cause problems. If you take a Linux box loaded with ettercap and attach it to the access you can hack anyone.

And they don't use spanning tree so someone can loop the access easily.

Yeah it's fun. Due to packet loss / whatever other reason on 1gbps I could manage around 45-50MB/sec. (although max speed would get me blackholed) At 200mbps with everything else in the setup exactly the same, it maxes out at 18-19MB/sec now, and requires more connections to do so.

I know we currently have all queue management disabled on your line from all the testing we did and that PTP IP while troubleshooting Octotel’s faults. Can you try switch over to PPPoE again? This will enable the queues on your line and manage your traffic from our side- let’s see if there’s any improvement.

Cool let me do that.

Finally came right and managed to authenticate. Then had to rack my brain to remember how to disable the routing you set up, but came right eventually.
